benjamin moore does the little 2 oz jar samples. they are about $4.00 (covers only a small area and i find it a little annoying that you have to dump the paint into a paint tray to paint the sample — you cannot fit a paintbrush into the jar, which is about the size of a baby food container, and they only come in certain colors)

sherwin-williams does "color-to-go" samples in a quart for $5.00 (plenty of paint to test on an entire wall. and it's one of those nice wide-mouth containers with the big screw-on lids and they will mix any color)
