I'll bet that this has been asked countless times, but I'm having trouble finding it in a search. I'm trying to start investing in bigger-ticket, classic items (I'm starting small, slow, and basic), as opposed to just buying disposable pieces. I think I'm going to start with a LV Speedy. I know there are mixed opinions on LV here, which is the case with most things, but everyone I know (IRL and on ST, it seems) who has one loves it. Two things I want to know:

  • How much is a 25 going for these days? Is the price at eluxury the price I would pay in store (my bank account doesn't like me to check this site out very much, so I'm not familiar with it) and a 30? I have no stores around me that sell LV, so it's hard to find out. I don't want to start calling stores, because I'm not quite ready to take the plunge yet and that would make it seem too real (okay, maybe that's weird ). When I try to google it, I just get sites for fakes and for eBay.
  • How big is a 30? I know how big the dimensions are, but how big is it on a person? I've seen what a 25 looks like, and I think I can imagine how a 30 compares, but I just want to be sure. Does anyone have any pictures of them with their Speedy 30 or know where I can find one?

Any help is appreciated... I'm new in the designer handbag world, so I'm very, very clueless .

i am getting the 25 for christmas and i went to the LV boutique that is in our Saks to compare the 25 to the 30.  so I can help you with that.  Surprisingly, I felt the 30 was much to large for me to carry (i'm 5'3" and wear a size 6) and the super nice SA there agreed.  I much preferred the 25 and the cost of it was $540 at the boutique.  The one thing that my BF is concerned about is the fact that it doesn't have a shoulder strap or a way to carry it over your shoulder if you want.  You can purchase a strap that hooks to the bag so that you can carry it over your shoulder- but its $180 for the strap!  i told BF that i think i'll be okay with it considering i have another bag that i use a lot that doesn't have a shoulder strap.

hth a little!  hopefully someone here will have the 30 and they can post a picture of themselves with it.  If you look in Thread Style, Lilykind carries hers in her pictures so you can see what it looks like on her.

Eluxury's prices are the same as in store.

25: $540
30: $560

I have heard that the prices will eventually increase.

Anyways, someone posted this a long time ago and it shows an olsen wearing a 30.

I have the 30 and love it!

That's the post I had in mind when I tried to do a search. Thanks aclassicbeauty.

And thanks to you too, bex... everything you said was really helpful. I tried to search through threadstyle, and the only Speedy I found was Lilykind's (which I'm pretty sure she's said is a 25, but I could be wrong)... though I didn't go back too, too far.

I think I'm leaning toward a Speedy 25... anybody think they should convince me otherwise? ETA: I usually prefer to carry big bags (I'm using my Tano boogie bucket currently)... I've heard that you can fit everything in a 25, but I'm not sure...

Price wise, it might be to your advantage to get it through eluxury- if you use an online rebates program (I tend to use mrrebates, which offers 3 percent back at eluxury, but other rebates places might offer more back), you'll end up saving at least $15 or so. Plus, eluxury is offering free shipping right now. I'm not sure about this, but you might also save on taxes ordering online. HTH!

Well. here's a pic of me with my 30

My own personal opinion is that if you like bigger bags, then I say pay another $20 and get the 30 vs. the 25. That's sort of why I got the 30 and I love mine!

i think i would choose the 30 but you have to go in person and try them both out.  if you are smaller than it may be too big like bex said, but you like bigger bags and plus- look at the bags ashley and mk carry- they are ALWAYS dwarfed by their bags.  so its not a huge deal.

I have the 25. I can fit a good amount, but I've always lugged a ton of stuff around. In emergencies, I have managed to fit

  • an outfit (t-shirt, jeans, cami, flips) rolled up

  • a small makeup bag w/my makeup neccessites (the bag is probably 8" x 3" x 1.5")

  • wallet

  • Ipod mini + headphones

  • digital camera

  • keys

  • notepad + pen

  • checkbook

Here's a pic of me with my 25 for reference. I'm 5' 3" and wear a size 4/6.

Here are a few pics of me with my 30.

I decided on the 30 vs the 25 because it was a lot bigger for only $20 more. I usually don't carry enough stuff to warrant the size of the bag, but I think a 25 would be to small for me. I'm not a size 2, so I think the 30 plays better with my size.

If you're really obsessing (I did too before my purchase), I can take some pics tonight holding the bag different ways, and then post them. Let me know.

Gosh, I'm totally obsessing . If you have some free time and wouldn't mind, I'd love for you to post some pics.

Stephanie: Here are two pics. Not the best lighting, but I did it on my way out the door. Oh, and I don't have anything in the bag (I wasn't wearing it today), so that's why it looks kinda funny.

Hope that helps!
