Are the botkier triggers a classic staple that will be around and popular forever? I really want to get one since they are on sale, but im a poor grad student right now, but would be willing to spend the money, if it will never go out of style and something i can use forever.

imo it's really hard to answer that question. first most "classic" bags are by labels that have been around forever (like lv, gucci, fendi). also it takes time for a bag to become a classic, so it's hard to say. the trigger has been around for a few years (i feel like at least since we were all on the lucky forum -- like maybe right before the move to fashionhag). that's at least 2 years, and they've been going pretty strong. also it's not something i associate with a specific moment in time (i.e. the fendi baguette). but around and popular forever? there's no way to tell right now.
that being said, if you have doubts you shouldn't get it. my general rule of thumb is that for pricier items i only buy them if i love them, and it never makes sense to buy something (regardless of price) cause it's on sale.
wow honey really put it best. but i think you have to consider your own personal style as well. like for me... i could never put a classic handbag like a chanel chain purse into my bag rotation because it just isn't me. the bag itself will be considered stylish forever, but it's not something i can see myself using.
i own two botkier and love them both. i think for me and my style, i can use the trigger for a long time. i bought a small in a great, dark rich brown and have been using it heavily since i bought it almost 3 years ago.
