Jennifer Garner has baby - and steals my baby name!

Jennifer Garner Has Baby Daughter
Jennifer Garner has a new alias now -- mommy. Us Weekly has reported that the Emmy-nominated actress, also known as Mrs. Ben Affleck, has given birth to a baby daughter in Los Angeles. According to the magazine, Garner had labor induced on Wednesday night (her official due date was December 8), and at press time it was unclear whether the official birthday was November 30 or December 1. What is known is that Affleck was by his wife's side during the entire procedure, and according to the magazine, the little girl's name will be Violet. The Daredevil co-stars, who didn't start dating until each had ended publicity-friendly previous relationships (his with Jennifer Lopez, hers with Michael Vartan), were married earlier this year on June 29. After an eight-week maternity leave, Garner is expected to go back to work on her TV spy drama Alias, which will be ending its five-year run in May. --Prepared by IMDb staff

--------

Grrr she used one of my baby names. Which I carefully track the popularity of to ensure that my possible future babies don't have overly popular names. Because I am neurotic. If anyone is interested Violet was hovering around #600 last I checked and now I bet it will just go up up up and off my list.

Violet was one of my names too! I only picked it up after seeing A Series Of Unfortunate Events, though. I'm so happy for her, she just seems so sweet.

Aww...I'll bet it'll be a cute baby and she'll be an adorable mommy.  Ever since she became pregnant, she just looked better and better.  She was really cute pregnant.  And Ben is quitting smoking too!  Good for both of them!

really?  i thought "induced" meant that they forced her into labor prematurely... it said that her due date was 12/8 so i thought that was exactly what she did.  but i'm not a mom so i have no clue how these things work!?!?

Crystal you are right but what the reference was to was the celebs that are going in at the first part of month 8.  Sometimes people go in early because their doctors might be going out of town or stuff like that which might be why she went in early.

yeah. mostly i was thinking of britney. who apparently was too afraid of labor pain and didn't want to gain the last month or so's worth of weight.

I'm thrilled for them. I think she's been a good influence on Ben, unlike JHo, and I think they will be good parents. But...Violet Affleck?! Blech. Sounds like a car accident.

ahaha! I don't know why but I never even thought about what the kid's full name is. Not the best combination.

Hmmm, maybe they'll hyphenate?  Violet Garner Affleck sounds less car accident-like.  As for the inducment, there are any number of things that may have prompted them to do it - including doc being out of town, low amniotic fluid levels, pre-eclampsia, etc.  But she was only a week early which is still fully-baked by anyone's standards .  And since they said 'induced' rather than 'cesarean', I'd assume she didn't end up having a c-section like our dear Brit?

Inducing labor is different than a schedualed C-section, the inducement drips pitocin into your system which then causes you to begin contractions.
