So.....I have been stalking this coat since the first time I saw it. I tried it on in the store (in a cream color) and fell in love - it fit like a dream. It sold out in this dark brown color almost immediately and I tried to have them locate one for me, but they were unsuccessful.

Anyway, I was just on their site, and I notice it's now it's available in this color with thinsulate (it never was before.) I am trying to pay off my credit card and I know that I am getting a JCrew gift card for Christmas, so I really wanted to wait on this purchase. So, I called CS and asked how many of these were left, and he said 2. So I just bought it. I used a $20 off code, but the total still came to $318.

I know if I would have waited until after Christmas, it definitely would have been sold out. I did the right thing, right? I live in Boston, so I know I'll wear it constantly (on rotation w/ my dressy black coat) and out of all colors, dark brown is the most flattering color on me....I just feel guilty because I'm not supposed to be spending tons of $ right now!

Ok, I got the coat yesterday! The light's not too good in these pics, but you get the idea. I'm taking it in to get the sleeves lengthened a bit (I have really long arms) but I am SO happy I got this!

IMO, sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!  Maybe it wasn't the ideal time to buy it, but since you were planning on buying it anyway .......


How about putting any money you get for Christmas toward your credit card and call it even?

It's beautiful!  Let's see, christmas is three weeks away - any way you could wait to wear it until after Christmas?  Maybe they will let you return and rebuy it with the gift card.  I bought something from banana online and then got a gift card...since there wasn't anything else I wanted (shocking) I took it back to the store and the SA let me return/rebuy with the GC.


Otherwise I agree with using christmas $$$!!

Good ideas, girls. I think I can wait to wear it until Christmas. At that time, I'll put any Christmas money I get into paying off my card, and I will bring the coat to the store with the gift card (my bf's mom told me what she was getting me, so no surprises there!) and see if they'll let me return & rebuy.

I still want to post pics on here when I get it, though, and get opinions!

Beautiful!  Maybe tell the bf's mom what you did and she could just give you cash instead to pay towards the coat instead of dealing with the hassle of trying to return/rebuy.  And I think you should go ahead and wear it now, get the most bang for your buck

It's very cute, a good investment coat, and the removable hood makes it versatile. I think you would regret NOT getting it more than you would the credit card debt it creates!

That coat looks great on you!  I think you definitely did the right thing.  JCrew coats last forever too--I still have one from high school that I wear all the time.
