i got this new coat that i am obsessed with--it's beautiful and long-ish and a rich dark red color. it was the only one left in my size.
the problem is: the color is running! i noticed it because i had it hanging next to a white raincoat in my closet, and pink rubbed off onto it in several places. i went over the coat with an old towel this morning, and LOTS of red rubbed off.
i am afraid to wear it because i don't want to ruin my clothes, but at the same time i think i will die if i have to return it. i called the shop and he said that hadn't happened to any others and maybe that i should scotchguard it or dryclean it before wearing, but that if it doesn't help i should just bring it back.
is there anything i can do? any sprays that would seal the color? i would like to try that before dry cleaning, because i don't know that that will really help.
i say go to the dry cleaners and ask them if they can do anything, if not maybe you got a bad coat?!?! surely we can find another coat in your size. that stinks.

it has to be this coat. i am not ready to give up on it yet.
does anyone have any experience with the spray called "sizing"? i just read that it seals the fabric pores and can stop excessive dye-bleeding, but that you shouldn't use it on dry-clean only fabrics...
