eBay Fakes?
Permalink Closed

Okay...I see LV's on eBay all the time, with lots of bids, going up to significant prices at the end of auction. But then I also have heard on this forum, not to buy designer bags on eBay...

I'm a relative novice in the eBay world, but have been snooping for a while to replace my old Gucci bag that went missing...am probaby wanting a doctor bag. I've seen some for relatively decent prices on eBay - by which I mean, they're not selling for $50, and relatively affordable for my budget, which most new Gucci isn't. But I'm worried about bidding because I obviously don't want to get rooked...is there some sort of primer for designer eBay shopping that I should know about? Some basic rules (besides the "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is" rule)?

Should I just hunt around resale stores in my local area instead?

Help!

here's my advice:

know the bag you're bidding on really, really well. inside and out. study the details and then request lots of detailed pictures from the seller to compare.

i bought a used LV monogram on ebay (it was real) and then a year later decided it wasn't "me" and resold it on ebay for about the same price i bought it for. i did tons and tons of research on the bag first though and felt like an expert on that particular bag afterwards.

after all that, i don't know if i'd do it again. it IS a risk. i sweated it out until i had the bag in my hands.

I'll pm you the name of the girl my coworker uses for prada bags (I think she sells more than that).  Every bag she or one of her friends buys they verify at the galleria and there has never been a fake.

Try this seller for Gucci... I have never ordered from her, but she has really great feedback, and her page is really helpful. She sells vintage Gucci and some stuff that is a couple of years old:
