Moth ball alternatives?
Permalink Closed

I've been having a problem with moths lately.  At least that's what I think they are.  I've found some tiny little holes on some of my wool-blen BR pants and a wool-blend BR skirt.  Whatever it is has left my sweaters completely untouched though.  And luckily I can still wear the pants and the skirt--the holes are tiny and not noticable, especially because both are lined.

I've put mothballs up in the closet, but OMG to they STINK!!!!!  Is there anything else I can use that doesn't smell so bad?  I don't want to walk around smelling like that!

cedar wood. You can buy carved cedar peices to put in your closet and they smell great. I'm not sure exactly where you get them, but most home/closet solutions stores should have something like it. HTH

If you really love wool and cashmere, like I do (well more cashmere than wool) I would go out and buy a bin that is air tight with a nice lid, rather than trying moth balls or cedar.  I have tried it all!! They have them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and they work better than anything else.  So only when you are wearing the sweater is it threatened by those nasty fiber eating insects!  They are a huge problem!!!

I agree about the cedar wood. If you go to Target, they actually have little pieces of cedar on a hanger so you can hang a couple in your closet. HTH!
