Help w/winter boots for the novice
Permalink Closed

I am in love with these boots. I have never owned winter boots before (live in florida) but my husband and i bought a condo in colorado and are planning on spending lots of time in this ski town. Of course these arent for skiing but just to look stylish and keep my feet warm. Questions: What do you think of these? Should i be concerned about the color (keeping them clean - they have them in black (in my size). Should i look for something else? they cost $325 which is the most i have ever spent on one single fashionable item. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think they are adorable.  I would be sure to waterproof them, you can buy some spray stuff from Walmart.  Not sure how they'd be in lots of snow.  Do they have them in a darker brown color?  But then the darker colors show salt residue (sp?).  Anyway, I'm sure the girls in more snowy regions will have better input.  Oh, and I'm jealous of the condo in Colorado   My dream is to have a big cabin/house in the mountains in Colorado to spend Christmas at.

if you are only planning on wearing them to be stylish, they're perfect. expensive yes, but all winter boots are and you'll have these for many, many years.

if you think at all that you might be doing some dashing through the snow, sledding, snowball making etc. i'd reconsider the suede.

can i ask where in colorado? i haven't been there in years, but i love certain little ski towns in colorado.

Those are really cute - I think you should get them   I have winter boots in that same color and I live in Chicago - the land of snow - and mine have held up just fine.  I track through a lot of snow in the winter and mine honestly aren't very dirty at all.  All I did was spray them w/the waterproof stuff FP mentioned.  HTH!

I love them - I vote yes!  I have many years of Colorado ski town experience to share.  Of course, when I go, I totally overpack, so this may be too much!

I usually take 2-3 pairs of boots on ski trips, 1 pair of nice going-out boots and 2 pairs of sturdier boots for tromping in the snow, snowshoeing, etc.... I wear one pair on the plane and pack the other two.

The pair you posted would be perfect going out to dinner and shopping in town boots.  Depending where you are going, the sidewalks will always be dry and shoveled.  I agree with Hotcocoa - I would get something sturdier for romping in the snow.  HTH!

Thanks everyone, i really appreciate your help. Any advice on skiwear and winter wear you can offer will be much appreciated.

Hotcocoa, we bought a condo in Crested Butte, Colorado. Here's a little sample of this unbelievable town.  My husband and i visited in July and knew we needed to have something here. We are native floridians and this is the antithesis of what we know and live. I have never been skiing so this is really exciting for me. We are going in late January.
