Question about snow beanie hats

Ok, so I bought my first snow beanie hats this weekend:

I know we will be doing some outside ice skating and other winter activities, so obviously they are acceptable for that.  But my question is what do you do when you go inside, like grabbing a bite to eat?  Or wearing them when shopping in a downtown shopping area, where you are in and out... is it ok to leave them on?  Or does it depend on the style of the hat?

I leave mine on. Its not unusual here, I guess b/c of the cold. I just hate having hat head so I leave it on so no one can see it.

My rule of thumb is if you leave your coat on leave your hat on.

I leave mine on most of the time.  Sometimes if I go to a restaurant, I'll take it off, but if it's the mall, or just a quick bite to eat, etc..I leave them on.
