In the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving and moving, I forgot to make my Discover card payment.  It was due on Thanksgiving.  I have never paid a credit card late and now I have a $39 late fee!  Do you think if I called them they would remove this fee if I explained it was an honest mistake and tell them I moved and give them my new address?

Yes.  It seems pretty likely that they would waive the fee.  You'll never know unless you ask.

I did this once when I went on vacation. I just called, explained the situation, and they removed the fee and (in my case they'd upped the interest rate), lowered the interest rate back to its previous point.

Just called and they waived my fee!  They are so nice and understanding!  Obvisously they like to be in good standing with their customers!  Thanks all!
