I decorated for Christmas
Permalink Closed

I still need more decor but it's starting to look like Christmas!

Here is my $20 Wal-Mart Christmas tree.  It's my 3rd year in a row to use it.  My tree doesn't have a matching theme, but I mostly have animals, and glass ornaments.

My favorite ornament...

I put up garland and lights around the stairs...

I made this centerpiece a few years ago.  I don't know why the center candle's wax turns pink?!

Sofa table...I'm going to put a pointsetta where my Thanksgiving centerpiece got put.  And there is two cute snowy critters...

I love your animals on the tree, and the centerpiece  you made is awesome. I love that bright shiny star on top of the tree.

I love your tree and your little ornament that is your favorite!  so cute!

i am so glad you posted that you got your tree at Wal-Mart for $20... the one i liked was there for $20 and i was nervous to buy it b/c it didn't look very full- but a friend of ours said you have to "make" it full by twisting the branches... i can see now that the $20 tree is what we are getting- b/c yours is GORGEOUS and looks really full!  thanks for posting that little fact- you sold me!

It's a 6 ft tree.  I'm not sure if this is the same tree they have every year but the branches come flat and you have to arrange them as the instructions advise.  The branches aren't very sturdy so heavy ornaments cannot be used, but there are plenty of lovely lightweight ornaments out there!  But if you already have lots of heavy ornaments, invest in a sturdy tree.  Also, the tip of the tree is flimsy so I had to tie a wooden stick just so my lit star wouldn't fall over.  Works out fine since I cannot see the stick.  Here is my tip: I use my old leather gloves when I assemble my tree, so that my hands and cuticals don't get scratched up!

thanks for the advice!  we were actually looking at a 5 foot "skinny" tree as the STers suggested since we currently don't have a lot of space in our 2 bedroom apartment.  We thought if we went with a skinny tree- we could always use it in the formal dining room or living room when we move to an actual house next year.  I'll be sure to look for sturdiness as you suggested b/c we do have some "heavier" ornaments.  thanks again!

i think i have the same tree !  yours look v. cute.  my tree is only decorated on the top half because my new cat has already broken 4 ornaments, so we moved the rest to higher ground.

This looks so pretty:

Is the garland pre-lit, or is it a separate strand of lights?

I love the way you decorated your tree, it's so cute! Your tree looks great, especially for being $20. We bought a cheap tree at Target last year on Black Friday and it ended up being a disaster. It was really crooked and it even fell over a few times. We threw it away and I haven't replaced it yet (lazy!).

It's separate.  I wanted to buy the ones that are together but I'm too thrifty for that.  Still turns out the same though!
