Closet Help! (Long)
Permalink Closed

I didn't know whether to post this here or in TS, but am hoping for some help with items in my closet that I don't wear much (or not at all!) because I don't know what to put with them. Nyla, LMonet, and others - I'd love to see what outfits you might suggest!

black skirt DH bought me. it's beautiful - makes me feel very senorita-ish, with the lace and the side drape, but i have *no* idea what tops, what shoes...i have one l/s and one s/s sweater that both go with it, but am stumped after that. it's so dramatic that i feel like i can only wear very simple items with it.

blue a-line skirt from express, about 3 years ago. besides the expected black, and white tanks in the summer, i am stumped. it's a much more vibrant blue than in the pic, more teal-ish.

darling green/pink/white/dark brown skirt, also from express. i love this one, but only have one dark plum cardigan to wear with it. it's more olive-y than the pic shows, and the pink bits are an odd sherbet color - not like any pinks i have in my closet. again, white tank/top, but what else? i have brown shoes that will work, and am on the hunt for silver shoes also.

green and ivory H&M skirt that i also love. i have worn this with red, brown, and black (and of course ivory) but am trying to figure out more options. also more green - a little more vibrant than an olive green - than seen in the pic

bcbg black/ivory top - another gift from DH. it has a very low neckline, so i want to get a brooch to pin right in the middle so i'm not flashing everyone. it doesn't look good (IMO) with skirts. i have worn it with black pants...

olive green and beige peasant top. i do not normally wear peasant tops, and bought this because i had some gift cards to lord & taylor and just couldn't find anything else before they expired. also doesn't look good with skirts...i have worn with jeans and that's about it.

and finally, a beautiful top (also gift from DH) in a beige/brown sort of animal print. it has french cuffs and is quite sheer, so i have a little nude cami that i wear underneath. i usually leave it open over the cami because it's not very form fitting and makes me feel a bit bigger than normal.

TIA for any suggestions!

And I'd put a creme or pink cami under those sweaters.  Hope this helps

  Bandolino Vinette

Or add a more casual heel (I'd stay away from a brown boot though since that might look too "costumey") and a brown belt over the shirt, if the shirt is long enough:

Thank you, ranchera - I like the idea of a taupe-y turtleneck with that skirt. I already have boots similar in color to those you posted (yay) and I luuuurrrve those Anthro wedges. Too bad they're not a little more affordable. ~sigh~

FP, I LOVE this!

brown cardie

I will look for something like that. I think I don't have enough pink / cream / white cami's in my wardrobe and that's where I'm running into trouble. Thanks for the tips!

NCShopper, thank you too - the top is too short to belt, unfortunately. I like the idea of the gold heels though!
