Moms - teething tips needed
Permalink Closed

So my normally sweet, happy baby has turned into a screaming disaster the past two days. I tried everything to calm her - but nothing worked. I thought she might be teething but I figured it was a little early to be that bad....well I took her to the dr. just to be sure that all was ok (Didn't want to have a problem over thanksgiving weekend) and it turns out she does have 2 teeth coming in - he showed me. (she is only 10 weeks old!!)

I am going to get orajel - but does anyone have any creative tricks to share? She can't even hold a teething toy yet so she is eating her hands like crazy. If you have any tips I would LOVE to hear them!!! TIA!

ps...shameless picture posting of my little DIVA!

orajel is what i used and it seemed to work well. (it's so hard when they cannot tell you what's up, isn't it?) check with your pediatrician or nurse first, obviously, but i remember giving a dose of baby tylenol in extremely desperate situations when it seemed that the teeth were really bothering him. my son was older but he never really "got" teething toys anyway — he prefered to throw them and crawl away from them — so those never worked for me.

good luck with your (damn cute) little diva.

I have absolutely no advice to offer, but she is SO freakin' cute!  I can't believe how big she's getting!  I just love the sunglasses.  She looks like she's going to be a heartbreaker with those big blue eyes!

Good luck with the teething--that sounds positively horrible.  I'm sure it'll get better soon though!  (Isn't 10 weeks early to be getting teeth?  Apparently I didn't mine until I was 10 months!)

I agree - orajel and baby Tylenol worked for my little one also.  Good luck!  BTW, your little treasure is beyond cute!

mine refused most teething toys and cold washcloths, so I had to endure a lot of fussing, but when he was getting his first tooth, he would bite on a wet washcloth while he was in the bath only.

Orajel is great, but it does wear off quickly, so I would give her a dose of tylenol at the same time.  Washcloths are good if she'll take them.  There is a great teething toy shaped like a star on a handle...if she bites down on it it vibrates and takes the pressure off her gums.  Hmmm...what else...oh yeah, if  you can stand it, put that little rubber finger toothbrush on your finger (do you know what i mean?) and let her chew on that.  Teething biscuits are helpful, but don't get ones that dissolve to quickly...something more along the lines of biscotti is good as it gives actual resistance.

I've heard awesome things about these:

Hyland's Teething -- 125 TabsHylands Homeopathic Teething Tablets

Directions

Dissolve 2 to 3 tablets under the tongue 4 times per day. If you prefer, tablets may first be dissolved in a teaspoon of water and then given to the child. If the child is restless or wakeful, 2 tablets every hour for 6 doses or as recommended by a licensed health care professional. Teething Tablets are very soft and dissolve almost instantly under the tongue. Please note, if your baby has been crying or has been very upset, your baby may fall asleep after using this product because the pain has been relieved and your child can rest.

No advice here (I asked my sister what she did with my nephew, and she said the same as the others: Orajel, Baby Tylenol, and a frozen washcloth)... I just wanted to say how ADORABLE she is!!
