What To Expect books are great.  I usually used those or the trusty ol' Internet. Or called Mommy crying for advice.

i agree with the "what to expect" books. i've found the "toddler years" one to be really good as well. (it picks up at the one year mark, so if you're starting with a nine month old, it might be a good one to pick up as well.)

but my husband and i constantly reffered to a book the mayo clinic publishes. (the mayo clinic's complete book of pregnancy and baby's first year is the title) the first half is pregnancy related, but the second half is dedicated to baby's first year and it is EXCELLENT! it's a huge hardcover book. my mom found me an older edition of it for $3 at some book sale.

Dr. William Sears, The Baby Book is my favorite baby book ever.  his website is great too, www.askdrsears.com.  It is cowritten by his sons, who are also pediatricians!  He or his sons have made appearances on several talk shows, such as Dr. Phil and Ellen.
