we should wear pointy shoes when wearing boot leg style jeans right? but ive tried to wear them and im just not comfortable with them. I love how they look but i cant do them, i had to return the boots i once bought that were pointy....

so will i look like an idiot if i wear my round shoes? im still going to wear them like that, i have no choice but just thought i'd throw this question out there so if you say yes i'll look silly at least i know i look silly to some but still wont care and will wear them how i want.

That's totally stupid (the pointy toes with boot legs only rule). Really. I'm not sure how much stock I put in Oprah as a fashion guru, either. Probably close to none.

Put on the round toes!

I feel the exact same way!  I think pointy toe shoes look so cute on other people but I can't wear them myself, I feel so silly in them.  I have to return a pair of boots I bought with pointy toes because I feel like I look really wierd in them.  I'm definitely a round toe kinda gal myself.  I don't think they look bad with boot cut jeans or any jeans for that matter.

i love round toes and pointys alike.  they are slightly diff. looks though, and some outfits call for one more than the other.  saying a pair of jeans needs a type of toe- complete nonsense.  it depends on what else you are wearing and the look you are going for.

Since when does Oprah have a say in what kind of shoes you wear with certain types of jeans? That's just silly nonsense. Wear your round toes and your bootcuts with pride!

That's crap. I like Oprah but she's reaching here...wear what suits you. I'm with Lynnie; I love both round and pointy toes and I determine the shoe by the outfit, not by some random dictum that Oprah gives. Enjoy your round toes. *s*

In her defense, it wasn't Oprah herself but Stacy London of What Not To Wear, who I do tend to listen to only because she makes people look skinner all the time.

But I agree with the others - bull malarky! Rules smools. Wear what you want.

I don't wear pointy toes either.  I like them on other people but they're not for me.  I love round toes.  I do agree that pointy toes with long pants can make a person look longer and leaner, but I don't think that round toes make anyone look short and dumpy.  IMO, this isn't a "don't," it's really just subjective.

Totally agree w/lynnie, I like round and pointy toed, but I think either can look good w/jeans.  I have a pair of round toe shoes on today w/my trouser jeans and I when I tried pointy toed on today, the round toed actually looked better w/this particular pair of jeans.  Wear what you want and feel good in!

It wasn't Oprah who said it, it was her guest, Stacy London (from TLC What Not to Wear).  And I already complained about her in another thread.  She was being way too strict.  Sure, pointy toes look best if you are going for that polished perfection, but round toes do look good too, I happen to think they look cuter and sweeter, they create a different attitude, while pointy toes stay the look of polished, in charge, and classic.

I prefer pointy shoes, I feel they make me took better. Round toe shoes seem to cut me off and make me look stumpy. I like the look of some round-toe shoes, but don't feel I can pull them off. That's just my feeling though...

I think that if you feel uncomfortable (physically) in pointy shoes, it's probably that particular shoe design. If the toe starts coming to a point too soon your toes will be squished.

I like pointy toe w/ jeans for me personally, but I also don't like rules.

You've got to keep in mind that 95% of women think about clothes/fashion a lot less than we do.  Oprah's target audience is women who want easy tips for looking good.

The thing that annoyed me about the show was that I didn't like Stacy's jeans at all.

I was going to say the same thing. It wasn't Oprah, it was Stacy London who said don't wear round toe shoes with boot cut jeans.

I'm all for wearing what looks good on you.  If something works for you, then go for it, and I personally love round toed shoes as well.

I swear, I forget that there are people out there that don't really think about what they wear.  I find that idea just totally foreign.    I think you guys are right that Oprah was talking to those ladies--the type that wants a one-size-fits-all approach to fashion.

This is exactly the way I feel.

Personally, I wear my jeans with both roundtoe and pointy-toe pumps. I think they look cute eitherway.

Yeah, ITA...this is why I take What Not To Wear with a grain of salt (BF actually hates the show because of the "one-size-fits-all" approach...he's like "don't these people want some personal style?" ). People can be overwhemled easily with all the rules and then being told to forget the rules and all that jazz.

That said, roundtoes are 100% acceptable with bootcuts!
