black tie casual?
Permalink Closed

I'm going to this black tie thing tomorrow, and don't want to go all out for it. I did get this sweater (thanks, jj!!!), and found a full length dark teal satin skirt... I have a huge (10mm + pearl and jade tassel lariat that I can wear with my huge 14mm pearl necklace (the lariat is wrapped twice and the ends are tied on my chest, and the pearl necklace falls between the two wraps of the lariat if that makes sense - anyway, it's a lot of pearl action.)  I also want to use my orange goat suede celine magic fish bag... this is an event with a lot of conservative asian business men and their wives... but it is black tie - so that means full length for me... does this outfit sound alright? I want to be comfortable, and don't want to break the bank for this event which I'm viewing simply as a nice dinner... (can't find a pic of the skirt - but it's pretty simple - teal a-line full length...) oh - and I was thinking my gold d'orsay delman pumps - only the toe will be peeking out from under the skirt)

I'm always dressed inappropriately so I have no advice on that, but I love the bag!

Gorgeous!  The sweater has a lot of bow action going on, so you may not need the necklaces (or could wear only one), but you'll know as soon as you try it on.  I love the teal and orange combo.

oh good! it's a little bit of a stretch, but I'm glad you guys are understanding my vision...  I'm also thinking I should tuck the strap in on the bag so it's a clutch... I'll play with the necklaces too... should I do a french twist, regular straight hair, or loose curls? my bangs are more side swept from a deep part than you see in my avatar - a bit more polished looking...

I think it sounds divine!  I agree with JJ re: the necklaces - you'll have to be the judge once they're on, but I think you could go without one or the other and still look fab.

Maybe a low loose bun with your deep side part?

I think your outfit sounds very pretty and I like your idea of tucking the strap in on your bag and making it a clutch.  I think you should wear your hair in loose girls - very pretty!

When I read the subject, I thought, oh this one sounds difficult, but you hit the nail right on the head!

I think the low bun sounds nice LMonet, esp. with the deep side part.
