This Christmas Tree?
Permalink Closed

bex's post got me thinking since my bf and i will spend our first christmas here, i want a tree.

since our place is modern, and we will spend every other xmas here (i work every other xmas), i don't want to spend a ton of money on a tree, and i don't like the fake green ones, and don't like the mess of a real one in our small place.  is this tree too cold?  i think it fits with our style and it's super inexpensive, $14.  and won't take a lot of storage space.

If this is your style, I'd say go for it.

I don't think it is necessarily something I would put up for Christmas (I like the real thing), but if it "fits" you I would say get it. Plus, it's very unique and you're not likely to see it at any of your friends' or families' houses. For 14 bucks, why not?

the second one is just a bit taller since it's the floor length.  i'm just not sure if people would think: cold (why bother), or cute alternative and looks great in their apartment.  we don't do a lot of entertaining, mostly before and after drinks and appetizers or dessert, so i'm not super concerned about getting the place decked to the nines.  i also have other holiday items as well.  i want to purchase some kind of tree today.

i would really really appreciate some more feedback.

I don't know - also can't see the second pic - but that first one is not giving me "warm-fuzzy" holiday feelings. I'm a modern girl too, but for me, at least, there's no substitute for the traditional Christmas tree.

I'd say that if you are wanting to do something more contemporary, keep looking for something really cool. I realize the appeal of a $14 price point, but IMO that just looks kind of cheap (sorry!). I'm sure there must be some more "wow"-ish modern trees out there?

I just don't know. I'm more of a traditional tree person, but I like these too

$25-$40 at Target

They also had a VERY pretty round tree that looked like it was made from twigs? if that makes sense. Although I realize that's not "modern" it was very pretty & understated, but I was thinking that if I didn't want to put ornaments on my tree, I'd get it. And i think it was $25-30 maybe? I can't find a picture online, but I saw it today.

Well, I guess I am going to be the voice of dissent...I think it's very cool looking.  In a modern space it might look great!
