Ok, so in an effort to make myself feel better from this damn cold I went to Dillard's and bought this pair of boots.  I love the color and all but once I got home I noticed a few problems.  I can never find a pair that will fit around my calves.  This is the third pair that I've purchased but I've always had to return them because the calf is too big.  Now here is my problem (see pictures below) Do they look too big? And they sit RIGHT below my knee, is that ok or do I just look silly? So.....keep or return?

First Tightless...

and now with tights (not necessarily these tights but you get the picture)

**New pictures**  I added a brown sock on the right side....does that help any?

*Ok, please excuse the total mess in the room.

what i would give to have skinny calves -- but enough about me. i like the boots, they look hot. i think you can take them to a good shoe person and have them taken in in the calves, i think several girls on the forum have had this done and it worked out well. i think the height is good. most knee high boots sit around there, so it doesn't look strange to me at all.

I voted return, but then again, I probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't point them out

same here.  i'm noticing what you're saying because i'm specifically looking at what you're pointing out.  i do think maybe you should keep looking, love the boots though

I received a pair of extended-calf boots I had ordered last night. They fit me almost exactly like yours fit you. I was willing to overlook the fact that they were too big on the calf, BUT the fact that they hit me right under the knee was SO annoying. I walked around in them for a bit and decided I couldn't take it, so I'm sending them back.

So, the moral of my story is...take them for a stroll and see if they work for you.

I think they look really cute but do stick out a little on the sides.  But the brown sock makes a world of difference and the tights help too.

I'd say keep them and take them to the cobbler. I have very skinny calfs and I always take my boots to a good cobbler.

They usually charge around $40 to $60 dollars...but it is worth the investment if you plan to keep your boots for several years.

I like them and I think you should keep them.  I think they would look better with a longer skirt tho.  The style of that skirt almost draws attention to the fact that they are a little bit big on the calves.

I think you should keep them. They don't look too big on you. And like the other girls said, you can always take them to a cobbler.

I think they look a little big.  A bit high and wide around the calf.

I vote keep them!  They are gorgeous - love the color!  Who are they by?

I have the same problem with lots of boots - my legs are short, so many of them are designed to hit at the widest part of the calf but hit me just below the knee and therefore gap at the top.  Your legs don't look short to me, so those boots must be taaaaaaaaaall suckers!

Honestly, I think they overwhelm your legs.  I think you could find a pair that fits you better and would be more flattering on you.  And what if you keep these so-so ones, and then in a month find ones that fit perfectly but can't buy them because you bought these?

My vote is to return.

I am with LMonet on this one:

That happens to me ALL the time. Be patient to find the right ones, and they will find you (not to sound all new-age).

Thanks girls for all of the responses.  I think I'll hold on to them and the receipt.  I will continue to look over the holiday weekend (Thanksgiving) for a more fitting pair.  I might keep them anyway, since they are so cute and just wear them with long gauchos and longer skirts.

Lmonet, believe me I'm a shrimp at 5'2" and I can't understand why my thighs are so large but yet my calves are so damn skinny. Argh!

Tara, they are from Dillard's by that Gianni Bini brand $149.  They were featured in Lucky mag a couple of months back and I have been drooling over them since.

I agree. As a fellow skinny-calfed girl, I can also tell you that you'll have a hard time finding boots that are small enough anyway, especially in that style. I have been looking, too -- I can only find pointy toes that are small enough.
