How do you take care of a puppy?

As some of you girls know I'm getting a puppy very soon.(next tuesday) Well, I've never had a puppy before so how do you take care of them? When do they eat? Do I  leave a bowl of food out like I do with my kitty? Can you trained a dog to poop outside? etc? I'm getting a chihuahua if that helps any. (I'm naming her Kaui.)
