Bare Escentuals - How To
Permalink Closed

I just got a kit of Bare Escentual Products and I have to admit I'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff. I've never used it before and although I watched the how to DVD, I'm still at a loss. I don't know what to put on when. Do I put clear radiance or bisque on first. If I use warmth, do I use glee also? What's "true"? I have no idea. Someone help please!

You really just need to play around and see what you like.  For example I've heard that the bisque should go on after your mineral foundation, but I like to use it first.  I use warmth before I put on the mineral foundation just because I like to have a more subtle look.  I use the glee when I use warmth because warmth is more of a "bronzer" and glee is more a blush.  True is an all over color, use on eyes or cheeks or where ever.  You really can't go wrong.  Just don't be afraid to play around!!

I have to perfect my technique with the powder eye liner. I'm afraid to use too much of everything. I guess I'll just have to play with it. Thanks!

Question--Someone at Sephora put tried the Bare Escentuals on me and I liked the coverage of it but I didn't like how it looked cakey on me.  Do any of you who use this find it looks cakey or is it just because she used too much on me?

I've never had this problem.  I'm guessing she didn't buff it in very good or used too much.

I think she used too much. Sometimes, when I was using BE, I would look cakey because I was rushing to put it on and didn't buff it in well. I'm probably going to go back...I looked at some pics where I was wearing BE and my skin looked great, even though it really wasn't.

I'm new to the product, but I would definitely say she put on too much which caused the caking.

Nunzi-I went and had a makeover at the Bare Escentuals store about 5 months ago. She used too much on me and I was disappointed but I followed her procedure and just used a lot less and it really looks good. I have had multiple compliments.

I start with bisque on any area that needs more coverage, pimples,  under the eye or red spots.

Then I use Clear Radiance. THen the foundation, next I used warmth (just a little) on the cheekbones and t-zone. Then sometimes I used True or another blush. Then follow up with Mineral veil.

Hope that helps---just a little bit goes a long way.

There are also some fabulous reviews on makeup alley---you might want to check that out.

You know what I'm having trouble with? The eyeshadow. I can't seem to control the powders for some reason. I'm not too bad with the eyeliner, which is odd because I'm terrible with regular eye liner. But I'm having such a hard time with the shadow. It's only been a couple of days so I'm sure I'll get it with practice. Thank you for sharing your technique, it's just the advice I needed!

i know what you mean---

I am not too fabulous with the eyeshadow myself-It goes everywhere and I haven't even attempted the eye liner. Any advice would be great. I still have it unopened. I thought I might try makeup alley for some pointers.
