One more time - which outfit for awards dinner

As I mentioned in this thread I am going to some Global Green awards dinner Monday night. Starts at 6:30, in a nice but not super swank Manhattan hotel, dress is "semi formal" but I've gotten word from a past attendee that fancier business attire should be ok. I'm going with my aunt who is just wearing a nice black suit.

Option #1 is an outfit involving my Prada skirt and either a gold embroidered top or a brown suede accented shirt. I can either wear a cream sweater or a brown velvet blazer on top (the blazer obviously looks better when I'm not trying to take a picture of myself).

These are the shoes and I guess I'd use this plum bag and would probably wear my fox necklace.

Option #2 is the safer one.
This top, a black wool crepe skirt with small kick pleats, these shoes with either a black, silvery-gray or purple ribbon

And I'd use either the plum bag or this one in red

Thanks!

hi cec--i voted for the cream skirt/sweater and gold top, but i think you can't go wrong with either of those tops.  i like the cream sweater because it makes you eye focus more on the fantastic skirt than the blazer does.  you look pretty--i think that outfit will be perfect.

i really like your safer option- just because it looks more "night" to me.  Could you wear the prada skirt with a top like the one in your second pic?  I like the idea of dressing fancy for a swanky awards dinner.  Also, where are your shoes from that have the plum ribbon in them?  i love them!

Arrgg I have like 20 minutes before I have to leave for work and I keep going back and forth. I think I might go with the Prada skirt, gold top and cream sweater so if it's really dressy I can be fancy and sparkly with the top and if it seems more subdued and businessy I'll just keep the sweater on. But the black outfit is so safe.

lynnie - those black shoes are Manolos that I got at a thrift shop for $15 "as is" because they had no ribbons. I just went to a trimmings shop and bought a few different kinds of ribbon. Of course I am having difficulty tying bows that aren't cockeyed which is one reason I'm leaning towards Option #1 *sigh*

I may be too late but I think you will look awesome in both, and hopefully you'll find that either would be appropriate. I like the Prada skirt with the gold sparkly top, but agree that the black dress is a tad more "event-ish". And I LOVE how your Manolos turned out! I'd remember when you were originally posting on them and they are just darling with the bows!

Have fun, either way!

My vote is for the prada skirt with the top from the safer option, and the sweater from option 3, with the purple bag, and either shoe. I think I would like the first shoe better with the outfit but not 100%. All the outfits look good on you though, so have fun no matter what you wear!!
