procrastinating going to sleep...

1)  What does your hair look like?

2)  Has it always looked like that?  What is your most drastic change?

3)  What kind of hair do you always wish you could have?

my answers:

1) my hair is medium brown, medium thick, about 5 or 6 inches past my shoulders.  It was curly when i was a kid, but now its pretty wavy/straight at times.  It looks better a day after washing.  Gets frizzy kind of easily.  I think its pretty boring but it *can* on rare occasion be pretty, i'm just soo lazy, i literally do nothing to my hair (don't blowdry, don't style..)

2) yes, basically.  Its fluctuated a few inches and had some dye mishaps (the 7th grade sun-in incident- my hair was orange for a year til my roots grew out, also, dyed it a really odd fake-ish wine colored shade once, didn't like it!!  I love red hair, but not burgundy hair that looks dyed that color)  My most drastic change is when i cut it from pretty long to my shoulders- big mistake- got so poofy and ugly.

3)  I love my dark hair, but every once in a while i wonder what it would be like to be born a blonde ( i wouldn't bleach my hair, and i'd look silly with blonde hair anyway.)  In people i know, i prefer dark hair, but on tv or on the streets, i always notice the typical "blonde" girl ( like mel on the real world or kristin/taylor on laguna beach.)  I wonder if its because i'll never know what its like to be blonde?  I have no idea.

1) right now it's in a tweener stage. my natural haircolor is black, but i had it blonde (!!!) in april...so i colored it back in stages. the ends are kind of reddish brown but i have maybe three inches of roots that are my natural. doesn't look as nasty as it sounds because it's a gradual fading. i colored it back when i was trying to get pregnant so now i haven't touched it. (though i might gloss it back soon enough)

2) no. my hair has been every size, shape, color of the rainbow. i wore it pixie length for a really long time, but i started to grow it out about a year and a half ago. it's just below my shoulders now. i have REALLY short layers and it feels sort of mullet-ish at times. i've actually shaved my head before and that was a super bad look for me. my favorite was when i had it in a pink pixie. (this was way before blowout!)

3) i wish i had really wavy hair. my hair has a slight kink to it, but it's pretty straight. i would love to have longish hair with lots of layers. maybe some soft brown highlights, but nothing drastic. low maintenance.

1. My hair is blonde with light copper highlights.  It hits my shoulders with layers, and a lot of razoring throughout to get rid of some bulk.  No bangs.

2.  It has been longer, but this is about the shortest I go, and I do this every once in a while.  Although I've always been curious to try another hair color, my hair has ALWAYS been blonde.  One time, I got a Nice and Easy type color from the drugstore in a strawberry blonde shade.  I told my husband to prepare himself for a change.  I did it, but there was no red in my hair.  We went out in the sunlight and he got up real close to my hair before he could see it.  He thought it was hilarious and kept calling me "Red".  Other than my "red hair phase", highlights and lowlights have been the most drastic changes.

3.  I wish my hair were less thick and not so dry.  I can't wash it too often, or it dries out, and when I do, I need to condition the hell out of it.  It takes a long time to blow out.  I have too much hair.  And I'm not crazy about the wave in my hair.  I usually wear it straight, and that's time consuming, but the curl/wave in my hair is sporadic and that drives me nuts.  The back is super super curly, and the front is kinda wavy.

1. Right now my hair is reddish/gold. I don't know what my real color is anymore. I have been dying it consistently since I was about 10 (yes 10 ) years old. My mom did it for me the first time b/c I wanted to look like the older skater kids with bleach blonde streaks. I have been dying it ever since. My hair is very fine and straight, about shoulder length with side sweppt bangs.

2. I have had every hair color and style under the sun. Everything from a super short pixie to long spiral curls (a perm, eeek!) and ever color imaginable. Once I dyed my hair in rainbow stripes. In high school it was mostly a hot pink bob.

3. I like my hair but I wish it was thicker and grew faster. Also I wish I could stop dying it but I'm too addicted!

1.  My hair is long, almost to mid-back, very thick, dark brown with natural gold highlights, and layers.  I actually really love my hair.  It's straight, but it has a lot of body to it.  Oh, I also have sideswept bangs.

2.  I've had anywhere from chin-length hair to a couple inches longer than it is now.  I highlighted my hair when i was 15, and died it bright, vibrant pink.  I've also done deep plum (my favorite color), red, blue (turned out green), and different shades of pink and purple.

3.  Sometimes I wish I'd been born with super curly hair.  Or I think about highlights.  But I don't want to damage my hair, and I'm relatively happy with my natural color.  If I want more highlights, I'll just spend more time in the sun.

1) Shoulderlength fine, light brown, swept to the side, with piecey layers (tends to go limp, but has a lot fo shine...)

2) In high school I had kelly taylor 90210 bangs (tunnel bangs) and for a while I had a blunt cut that was way too heavy on the bottom, but other than that, it's looked about the same. There was one misguided perm (for a guy who I think wanted me to look like his ex... ew...) I grew it out pretty darn quickly, and never looked back. Oh, and tried for the demi moore in that ghost movie look in high school - short in back with long bangs in front, but my fine hair and high forehead wa s a bad combo with that cut.

3) I have always wanted thick, chunky blond highlighted hair - like Meg Ryan or Barbie

1. My hair is straight but has good body because I get it layered. If I brush it, it is pin straight....boring. Right now, it's growing out of a shoulder-length choppy layered bob, so I've got layers starting at chin-length up until the ends, which hit maybe two or three inches below my shoulders (this is in less than 6 weeks....I can't keep a freakin' hairstyle for more than two weeks, I tell you!). Like erin, I have three inches of my natural black (or dark brown) roots and then you see my gradually fading caramel/chestnut highlights.

2. My hair has time periods that consist of one significant change.

age 0 - 8: hair was blunt cut, with face framing bangs.

age 8 - 16: No more bangs...Mom blunt cut my hair. It grew thicker and thicker until it was down past my waist and straight. The only thing that changed was length

age 16 - 19: LAYERS!

age:19 - present: started coloring my hair this past May. Only one hairstylist has ever colored it, and only one ever will. I my colorist.

3. I would like to know what it's like to have more wavy hair. I love wavy hair...it looks s sexy and effortless.

1)  My hair is dark blonde.  It is cut in layers and overall is a few inches past my shoulders.  I have sideswept bangs right now.  It is wavy and super thick.

2)  I do drastic changes all the time.  I used to do significant color changes at least three times/year, but I went back to my natural color about a year ago.  My most drastic cut was when I decided to go super, duper short and white - like Annie Lennox.  I really liked it, but it actually got me more attention than I wanted.

3)  I actually really like my hair.  I like that it is wavy and holds curl well, but looks nice straight too.  I used to wish that it wasn't wavy, but I've been embracing the wave over the last 2 years, and I like it now.

1) My hair has always been fine and I don't have much of it. My ponytail is so tiny that my coworker (who is a friend, so she wasn't being rude) co-worker laughed when she saw me with it. I have naturally medium brown hair, and it usually gets subtle highlighting on its own, but I usually color or highlight it anyway. So the base is medium brown with blonde highlights that I did myself. My hair is shoulder length with layers and long (to my nose) sideswept bangs.

2) I started coloring my hair in sixth grade (Sun-In), and I have never since left it alone long enough to see my natural color (except for roots). I have had every color (blue, green, purple, red) except black and every length from short angled bob to past my shoulder blades. In recent years I used to color it dark brown every fall and then go back to blonde for spring. Now I just highlight year-round.

3) I have always wanted thick, long hair. Not exactly like Stacey on What Not To Wear, but you get the idea. I like dark hair b/c it looks shinier. Mine doesn't look good long because it's so fine and limp.

awww! I have fine hair, too. My three sisters all have beautiful, thick hair, and they call me "cancer patient." Anyway, my answers:

1)  Highlighted light, gold-blond (naturally ashy dark blond), shoulder length with slightly layered ends and long bangs (it's actually a lot like Maggie Grace's (Shannon from Lost) in color and cut. I normally have to blow dry it or put it in rollers. If it dries naturally, it is just stick-straight and limp.

2) I've gone as short as chin-length and as long as bra-strap-length in the past couple of years, but most of the time it's shoulder-length. I can't go much longer b/c my hair is so thin and straight, but I can't go short because of my chubby cheeks.  As far as color, it's mostly been highlighted blond in varying degrees, though it's probably at its lightest now.

For drastic change, I did dye it medium-brown last year, and though I really liked the way it looked, it wasn't "me." Oh, and I had a poodle perm in 8th grade that was really something else.

3) My dream hair is dark, thick and glossy -- mostly straight but with enough wave that it can be coaxed out if necessary. My youngest sister actually has my dream hair. I am so jealous!

This is funny, because I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow.

1)  What does your hair look like?

Currently, it's medium brown with a few honey blond-ish highlights in the front. It's long (falls to around my elbows probably) and I have side-swept bangs. I have fine hair, but my stylist always says I have a lot of it, so I guess that makes up for it. Naturally, my hair is somewhere between straight and wavy, but it used to be curly when I was little. I wear it straight ususally-- I'm addicted to my CHI-- but I've been experimenting with my curling iron lately.

2)  Has it always looked like that?  What is your most drastic change?

Yes and no. When I was really young, my hair was really pretty, IMO. It was light brown with natural blonde highlights and curly. As I got older, my hair got darker and straighter. A few days before I started Jr High, I got the worst haircut of my life. I asked for long layers, and the lady hacked my hair off and it looked terrible... I was stuck in a ponytail for a whole year. I let it grow out and in 9th grade I started getting highlights... and I kept getting them, until my hair was practically all blonde. I kept the length pretty much the same-- all one length (between my shoulders and elbows, varied) with long layers and angled in the front. I got it dyed back to brown after I graduated, kept it like that (same length), then got the style I have now. Tomorrow I'm going back to my natural color, no highlights, and cut a few inches.

3)  What kind of hair do you always wish you could have?

I've learned to love my hair, but I've always wanted hair like Jessica Simpson... think, full, shiny, blonde, and full of volume. It seems like it'd be so versatile and easy to style. Plus, I guess that's the stereotype of beautiful that has always been thrown at me .

1) My hair is medium brown with some natural light highlights in it. It's cut into kind of a longer shag cut, with long layers (longest being a couple of inches below shoulders). Also has face framing shorter layers and eyebrow length bangs that I sweep over to the side

2) Nope, in elementary school, it was pretty short, like only a couple of inches. In middle school, it was permed, with the super poof bangs that were sprayed stiff. In the middle of 8th grade, I had been growing out the perm and my bangs and for my most drastic change to date, I cut it all off to chin length. In high school, I was fighting the natural curl and bangs and it basically looked like crap because I didn't know a thing about hair styling.

In college, it was all one length with a few face framing layers. I usually wore it naturally wavy and pulled back the front section. My last couple of college years, I got bangs and started using a straightening iron...Then I met my fabulous stylist and he has perfected the style I have today, and I am no longer a beginner at doing my hair

3) I've always wanted long (like halfway down my back) hair, and also for it to be a medium thickness and STRAIGHT (yup, grass is always greener).

1)  What does your hair look like?

Welp, it's layered like crazy, kind of shag style I guess.  It falls several inches below my shoulders and frames my face with sideswept bangs.  Ha, I think CarrieS and I have a verrrrry similar cut.  We're cute!

2)  Has it always looked like that?  What is your most drastic change?

No, I generally have longgggggggg hair with lonnnnnnng layers (think Lindsay Lohan circa Mean Girls) but a few months ago I decided I needed a change and opted for something a little more sleek.  I nearly cried in the chair when the stylist was finished because it was so "short", but I'm actually really pleased now and the stylist is probably a genius.

3)  What kind of hair do you always wish you could have?

I think I have the best of both worlds since my hair is naturally very curly and I've discovered the power of CHI.  So I can go stick straight or wild and curly as the mood hits me.  It also grows really fast, which is a pain when it comes to shaving my legs, but whatever.  So yeh, I'm pretty lucky when it comes to my hair.  It's extremely versatile.  I like it lots.

1.)  What does your hair currently look like?

My hair is about shoulder length with sideswept bangs.  My hair is pretty thick and virtually black--only in the sunlight does it look brown at all.  I'm desperately in need of a trim.

2.)  Has it always looked like that?  What was your most drastic change?

No.  I chopped my hair off in high school so it was slightly longer than a pixie cut.  I loved it, but then grew it out a bit.  It grew to about shoulder length and then I chopped it again while I was studying abroad in Australia and had purple highlights put in that looked really cool.

3.)  What kind of hair do you wish you had?

Hair that would behave!  My hair looks decent when I leave the house in the morning, but it looks like crap by noon.  I've never been good with hair either, so I'm not great at making it look nice, although I have gotten better.  I think it has less to do with my hair and more to do with my ability to do something with my hair.

1)  What does your hair look like?  It's very long and usually I wear it wavy.  Currently, it's a medium auburn brown (see "I accidentally darkened my hair"post).  I have long layers all over.

2)  Has it always looked like that? No, but it's the style I always go back to. What is your most drastic change? Haha...I've had a few.

  • Freshman year of college:  I dumped two bottles of bleach on my hair, then dyed it construction cone orange and streaked my long bangs with purple
  • Sophomore year of college: I chopped my long hair off to a short style (think Monica from Friends after Phoebe accidentally cut her hair too short and she had to get it fixed).  It was cute and people liked it, but I didn't feel like myself. At all.  Oh, and at this time, my hair was also dyed a dark cranberry red color.
  • When I was 21, I dyed my hair black and put plum highlights in it.
  • When I was 23, I dyed my hair light blonde. It looked cute, until I went to the beach and the sun bleached it out to white-blonde.

Yeah, I think I'm about done with drastic hair changes.

3)  What kind of hair do you always wish you could have?

Usually, I like my own hair.  Right now it's a little too long and I need a haircut.  But when it's a little shorter and layered, I can get it super straight or fairly curly (especially in the summer with humidity) without much effort at all.  I like that my hair is versatile. And even though, I get bored with my natural color, it is a pretty nice color.  And it grows super, super fast.  Which is okay for long hair, but bad when I want to keep a hairstyle without visiting the salon every other week.

One thing I might change is how thick it is. Without fail, every time I go to a new hairdresser, they comment that I have the thickest head of hair they have ever worked on.  I guess that's good, but it makes it a pain in the ass to style b/c it takes forever. And it also pulls the curl/wave out if it gets too long (like right now).

Oh, but you can!!! All that volume is extensions.  The superblonde is hair dye. And the versatility? Ms. Simpson can thank hair stylist Kevin Paves for his fabulous work on her hair.

Currently, my hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders with lots of layers and is a dark brown with reddish/gold brown highlights

2)  Has it always looked like that?  What is your most drastic change?

I work in the hair industry so I have pretty drastic changes all the time!  I've had platinum blonde hair, dark dark brown hair (almost black), short cropped spiky boy cut hair... you name it, i've done it!

3)  What kind of hair do you always wish you could have?

currently, i am lusting after long long hair... so i have schemed with my coworker and we are getting extensions!  i. can. not. wait!!!!!!  i am so excited!  i am going to add about 4-6 inches to my length and all over thickness... it is going to be awesome! i'll post before and after shots when i do it!

1. My hair is really thick and has lots of big curls. It's kinda reddish/blondish/brown and has natural highlights. It's pretty long (mid back) and ranges from kinda frizzy to really frizzy.

2. My hair has pretty much always been like this, although every year I learn to deal with it a little better. I had brief stages of blonde and pink streaks.

3. I really love my hair. My only requests would be redder and glossier.

1. thick, stick-straight, dark-blonde with light-blonde highlights.  it starts out as more of a gold tone and then the highlights get too white after a few weeks, so that's my main complaint, but mostly i really like my hair.  it's about to my high-mid-back at the longest point, but layered all throughout and with long-ish bangs that sweep to the side.

2. nope--i change the color and go dark sometimes.  this is the one i always come back to, though--it's basically my natural color with blonde highlights on top.  and i always keep it at least as long as my shoulders--i have a round-face and horrific memories of a 5th grade "dorothy hammill" mistake.

3.  i'm mostly always happy with mine, it's my favorite feature about myself.  i guess maybe i'd like if it was a tad easier to curl--like it would hold the curl longer instead of flattening back out, but that's really it.

1) I have naturlly red hair, hard to describe the color but If I were to grab a handful of hair each strand is a different shade of red. It is a few inches below my shoulder with layers. My hair is fine, but there is a lot of it.

2) My hair has mostly been longish. I have never colored my hair. I have had a perm before but that is as crazy as it gets.

3) I have always wanted wavy thick hair. I am okay with the color but would love some more thickness.
