ladies have you seen the coin machine that counts your loose change? wow i took our loose change to be cashed in for bills and i had two hundred dollors and 33 cents. the machine always takes 8 percent of what you put in it. wish our bank would do this. oh well at least i got rid of all that change and put the bills in the bank

those machines! It sure beats rolling pennies.  $200 is pretty impressive, the most I have ever "collected" is about a hundred dollars.  Reminds me that I should start filling up that change jar again

I love those machines!  About once or twice a year, my husband and I will take all our loose change up to a grocery store and have it converted (we have two bowls in the house where we drop all our loose change).  Then we usually go to dinner and discuss how we want to spend it, i.e. if we want to just split it and each use it for something on our own or spend it together on a hotel room, concert tix, etc.  It's a fun little geeky thing for us to do!

I'm too cheap to give them 8% of my money. I actually enjoy rolling coins.

Yes I work for commerce bank and, when I see people come in there with all of that change and how it adds up so fast. It persudaes me to try to do the same. Even though, I have't started yet But, for anybody that doesn't have a Commerce close by, if there is a Chevy Chase Bank some of there banks have the same thing because they are copy cats

Thanks for the tips.  We have a big water bottle full of change that we need to cash in, it will be nice not to have to pay the 8% fee!

Ha, me too!  I do it about once a month and put it toward my irrational fashion splurge fund .

As a college student, I do this in a small piggy bank and then take it to my bank. They've always done it and I've seen others have it done too.

Even just a little bit is nice to have for coffee or 'mad money'

I love keeping my change!

Last year my hall had a cup that we would all deposit our change in and when we had enough we'd throw a cocktail party! That was fun. It's surprising how much it adds up. I recently drove from Maine to St. Louis and used my change to pay for tolls and fast food along the way. It just feels like free money.

I use those sometimes when my change bowl is full.  Yeah, the 8% is annoying!  It's a little embarrasing when you dumb all that change, especially when it is a lot because it makes so much noise and people stare!  I've once taken so much change to a bank that is was so heavy I had to take two trips from my car!  I know they all talked about it when I left!
