When you had an exam coming up how would you focus and study? I have noticed that I get distracted easily!!!! I need to stop and really focus! Hopefully I will get some good ideas from ya'll!!

How did you girls handle those stressful nights before an exam??

I would play soft music, like Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, or softer Moby, or something w/o words.  I love coffee so I always had a cup as well as water and a little treat to provide me with sugar, such as gummy bears.  Make sure you are warm and comfy, but not so much that you will fall alseep.  I don't know how easy it is for you to study outside of your home since you are still in HS (right?), but I always found it so much easier to concentrate in a quiet cafe or the library--the key is minimal distraction.

i was the worst studier- i always would cram for a test 2 hours before the test- it was the only thing that kept me focused- deadlines!!  I think realistically though, I would prefer to study slowwllly, like read a chapter a night, and then review before the test.  Also, not sure what the subject is, but remember, learning is fun!  If you think of reading a book as learning cool ideas, its not as annoying.  Forget about grades as best you can.  I know I would groan if someone put an interesting (or slightly boring) article in front of me to read for an exam, but hand me the same article to read for fun, and i read it sooo fast and soak it up.  Its a strange phenomenon.

Everyone studies differently and different things work for different people. I know that if I just read a book that I won't pay attention. So what I do, is read before the class so I have some idea what the professor is talking about. I make sure I take good notes, and then I outline the chapter that I was supposed to read. When I study I study from my outlines and not my book. This way I am not flipping through pages and looking at highlighting. Then whenever I know a concept i check it off.

in order to heavy duty study, I had to go somewhere else, Barnes and Nobles, Borders, the library, etc.

Otherwise, I would procrastinate at home, even clean, rather than study.

Haha, that's so me!  I always crammed the night before my exams.  Whatever works!  I know I would have retained more in the long run if I had studied throughout the quarter, but my studying habits worked for me.

I always waited til like a couple days before the exam, then I'd get together with classmates. It was a good way to gauge what I needed to work on and where I was compared to others. (All of my grades were pretty much based on a curve at college). Then the night before I would study alone with some mellow house music and a red bull.

When I'm home I can't study unless I type my notes. That's my only form of studying when I go home. I get distracted so easily. I then review my notes. It's also helpful to do note cards. Especially before the test. Like when you know what chapter yall are going to cover in class read it before you have the class. Take down important notes and key words. I find it really easy to study at the library since it's really quiet.
