We were in a game reserve in South Africa near Saba San called Singita, then Zambia, Botswana and back in South Africa to Capetown and the Winelands.

I'm inspired. Between your honeymoon and last year's Amazing Race, we are looking at planning a safari trip. I see you went to Singita - what made you decide to go there? logistics for your trip? good spotting history? How were Zambia and Botswana? I would like to to to Capetown, just wondering if we should try to fit more in...

we've done a little research and want to stay at one of the more moderately priced camps (from what I recall, you stayed at one of the resort-like ones) - we don't want to spend that much on lodging, but I don't want to be to rustic either. Please share as much as you can about the trip please!

I've been thinking about going on a safari as well...the only thing is..it would be hard to go to the continent of Africa and not go home first, my people back home would be PO...anyway not sure the significance of that statement but there you go

That's what I was thinking! It looks like you guys got pretty close, but it looks like you have an amazing camera as well--I'd love to be able to get pics like that.

Laken, we did have a camera with pretty good zoom but on some we were so darn close to the animals I actually had to switch off to a smaller lense. These animlas are just so used to seeing Land Rovers that they don't really pay much attention to you. We were able to get as close as 5 feet with some animals. In on instance a Lion just came and walked right up to the Land Rover to get a better look at us.
