I don't know that much about it, but I have the song stuck in my head every time I see the preview. "525600 minutes, how do you measure, measure a year..."

Me too! I was lying in bed yesterday morning thinking about that song and I've never even seen the musical.
Over the summer I saw a sneak preview of some footage of the movie. The visual wasn't of super high quality, but I saw a few numbers: one where Rosario Dawson is asking someone to light her candle, and one where she's a stripper singing about going out that night, and then another one I think called the "Tango Maureen." Since I haven't seen the musical I can't really say if it looks like it kept the same feeling or spirit intact, but their voices were definitely amazing.

Hahaha! My class performed a dance to "I Believe I Can Fly" at my 5th grade graduation! We were basketball jerseys just like Space Jam. Sorry to hijack, I just had to comment on that.
I DEFINITELY want to see this. I loved the play and have to see the movie even if it is bad.
I'm sure that it won't even come close to the stage version, but I still love it, so I have to see the movie. I'm such a theatre purist, though, so don't take my word for it, if I say it sucks. I didn't really appreciate Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger Cell Block Tango-ing across the silver screen (unlike 90% of the population).
So far this is only one of two movies I have wanted to see in the theatre this season. The other is "Goodnight and Good Luck", but it isn't showing anywhere near me. (I refuse to drag all the way out to Roosevelt Field just to see a movie. I'll pick up the DVD.)
i LOVE rent and am super-excited about the movie, esp. b/c it's almost the entire original cast. i saw the stage version three times, once on broadway but it was after the original angel left. it's one of my very favorite musicals, and i still listen to the soundtrack fairly frequently. i am an early 90s cliche', i know.

I agree with you 100%. I didn't see the movie until a fter it had won Best Picture and the only part about the movie that was worth mentioning was the Cell Block Tango. I was otherwise underwhelmed.
I hope Rent isn't like that...it deserves to be so much more.
I can't wait! I've seen the show and was obsessed with the soundtrack while in college...I need to dig it out again and start listening. Its one of my all time fav albums.
