We live in a large luxury apartment complex - it's actually two complexes that are connected and therefore have two offices.  Aparently the office at 'my' complex deals with NOTHING.  I have to trek all the way across the complex to the 'other' office to pick up UPS packages, ask for maintenance, etc.  And when I went over there today to pick up a package, I let them know that we were STILL waiting on paint to be delivered (going on 10 weeks now).  Our apartment wasn't repainted before we moved in, so all the window sils and the builtins need to be completly repainted, and there are tons of nicks and scuffs all over our walls.  They aren't famous for being responsive to maintenance requests, but the lady informed me that we would need to come to the 'other' office and BRING OUR OWN CONTAINERS if we wanted paint .  Not only do I not make a habit of keeping 3  1/2 gallon reclosable containers around, but I am doing them a freaking favor my even offering to repaint myself so as not to tie up their 2 freakin maintenance guys!

GAAAAAAAAAAAH!  $850 a month for rent, you'd think they could spring for some paint containers!

That sucks, but I'm not surprised.  We live in a nice apt. building in Chicago and I always ask myself why for the amount of money we give them in rent, they can't/won't fix anything w/out us begging.  Unfortunately, landlord's/property mgmt. companies are usually all the same - lazy!

NO WAY, did you tell them when you moved in the apartment was never painted?  Technically they should have not let you move in, but they should have come in and painted ASAP when you moved in.   We live in a property management community and I think they're all the same.  I think it's the people the companies hire, they're rude, lazy, never submit service requests on the day you call.  I have a huge bubble w/a hole on my dining room ceiling from the rain 3 weeks ago, all they did is put a bucket and plastic all over the floor.  All the stuff & furniture is stacked to the side & looks like an open storage area.  When we moved in they only gave me 1 garage remote and told me I would have to wait for them to put in a request to have one programed.  2 months later WE had to *drive*(its way far too)  to the office to ask again.

I think you should ask your FH to go over there and firmly request your apt. painted.  Because when you move out, they'll take the "re-painting" out of your deposit & *forget* that it was never painted by them in the 1st plac.  We've noticed they act immediately if a man complains.  I think that's why our hole isn't patched yet, cuz I called, funny how I was told to wait for the garage remote, but when hubby walked in for me the 2nd time, he got one on the spot.

at least they don't make you buy the paint.  i pay $950 for a small one-bedroom, and if i change the colors on any of the walls i have to paint them back to white myself before i move out.
