I'm really hounding the health board today, aren't I?

I'm no stranger to jogging, but gave it up about 3 years ago because my knees hurt after running for over 8-10 mins.  I never had a problem when I ran in my HS years, but when I started dating my 6'1" hubby, I started wearing 4" heels and I think this messed up my knees.

I'm tired of doing the ecliptical machine for cardio all the time.  Also, my body has become used to it so I've stopped seeing changes.  I want to start doing different types of cardio and want to start running again.  Has anyone else had knee pain when running and what did you do to make it better?

have you considered switching brands of running shoes? i've been a runner for a lifetime and i had a period of time where my knees were KILLING me when i ran. i had bought a pair of shoes on a whim because i thought i needed more arch support. i ended up taking that pair into the running shop and then described my knee pain. they fitted me with a pair with less arch support (since my pain was severe on the inside portion of my knee... from too much support) and i couldn't believe the difference it made.

i dunno it's just a suggestion. your problem may not be as simple as mine was to solve, but it could be a starting point.
