Dinner out tonight - need alt. to the black dress
Permalink Closed

Hubby and I are going to the Captial Grille tonight (http://www.thecapitalgrille.com/splash.asp). It's a nice place, "smart casual" is the way I describe what ppl wear there.  I always wear the same thing when we go to nice restaurants. Black cocktail dress and pumps. I'm bored of it and want to do something different.   But, I've grown so dependent on the little black dress that I'm not sure what to do.

Does this look too much like a "for work only" outfit, even though I'm trying to dress it up w/ a gold sweater and bag?

This pair of pants from BR and a scoop neck sweater that's beige and metallic gold (also from BR but no pic) with either black pointy toed boots or these pumps, and my gold Kors bag.

My other option is a purple sleeveless silk vneck top w/ beads around the neckline, black pants w/ white and plum stripes, and a purple velvet blazer.  No pics since I got them all from Lord and Taylor.

Help? TIA!

Sorry, i'm not here to give advice on an outfit but rather cocktail advice. Get their signature "stoli doli". It's a yummy pineapple martini. Basically, its pineapple infused vodka. After a couple of these, who cares what you're wearing!

Seriously, if you have a nice silk scarf with a camisole and blazer, this would really dress up your trousers.

Have fun!!

I think the second outfit, the purple one from Lord and Taylor, sounds really cute and less work-like than the first one.
