UPDATE - Thanks for the ideas. The skirt arrived yesterday and I LOVE it. I had picked up this blouse at Express and tried them together. They worked great but seemed sort of "plain".
I ordered this BB Dakota vest and it should arrive tomorrow. I had planned to pair it w/ jeans, boots, tee, etc. but was wondering if it could possibly work w/ this skirt?? I think the fur would look great on an outdoor Christmas pic. Opinions??
(I posted 3 pics of the vest showing different ways the models are wearing them)
I FINALLY was able to snag this skirt today when my size poped back up.
I can think of a ton of things that I want to wear w/ it this fall/winter BUT I'm needing some help w/ making a "simple" outfit. We're going to be doing family pics next month and I've already gotten a couple outfits chosen but we will be doing one Christmas/Winter session w/ Hayden wearing this:
We want him to "stand out" more then DH or myself. I'd love to wear the skirt above but what color top/tights/shoes??
I don't want anything to "flashy" if that makes sense. Maybe some soft colors (creams, whites, camel, etc). I also don't want to compete w/ the sash on the skirt either.
This should be simple but for some reason, it's not coming to me.
Any suggestions would be great!
Here are a couple options I came across for tops:
Navy Plaid Screams Holidays - But It May "Compete" w/ Hayden's??

Try a nice silk blouse tucked in. I like purple and blue together. It's not flashy, but also not expected. I think cream or another light color would blend into your background.
Something like this
Keep your shoes simple. Knee boots in a gray or a rich brown? If the photos are inside, go bare legged. If they are outside, try tights that match the boots.
As long as you feel you look good in cream, that could be an ok color. I'm just afraid it could look washed out or make you look washed out. I like the idea of camel better if it is a flattering color for you. One way to "not stand out" as much as your child would be to wear navy. Navy isn't a flashy color, and the graphic on his sweater will do the work of separating him from the other people in the photo. I know some colors work better than others in photography. Maybe the photog has some recommendations?
Colorwise, you could try burgundy - this wouldn't be so "patriotic" - or mustard/gold. Khaki/tan/camel would be nice and neutral. You could wear a top under a navy cardigan too.
This is a neutral color but has some detail and some lurex/metallic
The other two colors are possibilities too - light silvery gray and darker gray. (Gap, http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8998&vid=1&pid=871061)
