Ok, here it is:

it is also pictured here in a blue print:

http://www.tracyreese.com/

just go to the collection, fall 2005, and look at the first coat.

it was mis-printed in marie claire, the price is actually $695.  GRRRRR.  Anyway, a few stores bought the black color.  If I can find the black in my size somewhere (could be hard), i get it and it fits perfectly, should I splurge?  I've NEVER spent this much on one item, but of all the $600+ coats i've posted, I strongly prefer this because I want a black coat (liked the yaya one but it was beige), and I think the cut is classic enough to wear for years (unless i lose it, ahhhh!  I'd be so paranoid to leave it somewhere for coat checks, etc.)  This would be an investment piece- i doubt i'll invest in an investment bag for a year at least, and this would get more use since I have a few great bags I love.  Has anyone spent that much on a coat?

yes.  i have this coat in black.  it's shearling, though...

165182.jpgmy ONLY concern with your coat is that it looks like it's *almost* bubble, which i neat because of the detail, but i'd be afraid it might make my butt look big the way it's pleated...have you seen it in person?  if you love it and you've seen it in person, i don't see why not.  in the winter all you see is coat, boots, and bag anyway.

hmm... i don't think the price (for a coat) is outrageous, though it is steep. however i don't think this should be your investment coat. it's really cute, but something about it doesn't scream lynnie to me (does that make sense). anyway that's just my humble opinion. i like the lamb coat you posted the other day more. but if you're looking to find it, i would probably start at bloomingdales (on 59th street) 2nd floor, but not the coat section. it would probably be with the regular tracey reese stuff. also check bergdorff's i think they have a pretty extensive collection of tracey reese stuff.

Hehe!  I would def. say this coat is a lynnie coat   I like the other coats of course too, but I think the lamb one is too trendy for $700 and I'm not crazy about the big brass buckle at the waist.  One of the reasons i'm drawn to this coat is because I could see myself wearing it in Paris- i want to live there one day.  Also, the pleated detailing stands out, but isn't too much.  I *hope* it doesn't make my butt look huge, as shopgirl82 mentioned, but I don't really think my butt is that big, so i think it'll be ok.  The TR rep said no stores in NY bought the coat- not sure if i believe her, so i'll def. check those stores out.  She mentioned Nordstrom, which would be ideal since their return policy is so stellar- much better than buying from a small boutique in Cali for example.  If i'm spending that much anyway, I'll def. check the selection at Bloomies and Bergdorfs, though i bet many of their coats will be in the thousands!

oh, i hope you didn't think that i was trying to insult you...i just know that they say not to wear pleated pants because it makes you look bigger than you are, so that's a concern i would have with this coat.  but....that pleating detail is what makes it special....so i would say to try to see it in real life.

sorry if there was confusion.

bloomies actually has a pretty decent coat selection, and most of it is priced reasonably (300-500) so it's worth a look. i *know* hard it can be to find a coat. it took me 4 years to finally find a black coat that i loved. which i still haven't bought, but the day after thanksgiving it will be mine.

lynnie- as long as it fits you just the way it should, go for it!!!

(btw, i am so satisfied to know that the price was indeed a misprint, although saddened) i decided not to hunt it down because i am pear shaped and from what the ladies have been saying, those pleats could enhance what i am trying too hide. at the same time, as others have said, if you are going to spend $700 anyway, get something you love and looks perfect!

don't forget to post IRL pics if you get it!

(ps, i'm sorry i did not reply to your last statement in my post, im just now reading it)

i'm thinking about calling around at the end of the season to see if i find it on sale also, assuming it doesn'tmake my booty look hugemongous

haha, don't worry- i wasn't insulted. I *am* pear shaped, but I'm slender too- i have a long torso and am a size 4. So I don't *think* it will be an issue. I agree that it has to be perfect to be worth the $$, thats why i'm either trying to find it in person, or at a Nordstrom, which will be easily returnable.

4 years, huh? wow, yea, i'm pretty frustrated since I don't own a single long wool coat and winters getting closer and closer.. And since I spend $200-$300 on a semi-regular basis on things (shoes, bags, sweaters), I think it could possibly be worth getting one awesome coat I can wear for years, even if it costs me.

yeah. it's funny b/c i can find lots of other things that i love, but when it comes to buying a coat or a bag (something that's long term) it's like a mini crisis. i finally decided to get my coat b/c every year i loved the styles by mackage, but kept putting it off, mainly b/c of the price. (i'm still kind of holding out -- hence the reason i'm waiting until the day after thanksgiving so hopefully there'll be a sale) if you love the coat definitely get it.

i think it's a great coat. you are young and can definitely wear it for another ten years. (i'm not saying there is an age limit on this style, but i think it's definitely a younger coat)

if your budget allows, i say go for it. you can always eat ramen for awhile!

Well my opinion is that you should really love it for $700.  However, if you normally spend $200-300 on other things, then that price is about right for you for an investment piece!

I can see how you can love it - that coat screamed Paris to me!  (And having French in me, I it!
