I have been posting about my sick kitty, Frank, in Dating and Relationships.. since he such a huge part of our family.
Please go there and read about him.
He is having liver failure and things aren't looking good. He is only 4.
This cat cannot get a break. He was a rescue, we adopted him from the Humane League when he was a kitten.
His story is horrific..
The person who brought him in to the humane league, 4 years ago was walking down the street and heard crying coming from a dumpster. The person looked in and found a trash bag full of kittens.. only two were still alive, Frank and his brother. They had been castrated and throw away, left to bleed to death. The vet there saved his life and soon he was up for adoption.
My husband is a musician and was visiting a radio talk show (to perform on air) on a local, morning radio show. Also on the morning show was a representative from the Humane League talking about the animals of the week and encouraging people to come adopt them. They had brought Frank, his brother and a puppy in to the show to talk about them. My husband saw Frank and went to the Humane League that afternoon to adopt him. He has lived with us and had a happy life ever since.
The vet still is holding out some hope. They have scheduled an ultrasound for tomorrow, but he still has jaudice, which is very bad.
We are going to visit him in the hospital tonight. Please pray for him and for our family. Our home will not be the same without him. Thanks girls.
*******UPDATE********
Well, we went to see Frank at the animal hospital last night and he actually looks good, better than when we took him in on Friday. He was SOO happy to see us and I think we may go and visit him again tonight. We brought his favorite pillow case to sleep on and even got him a get well card (I know, DH and I are insane.) He was in good spirits and was purring louder than we've ever heard him! He still isn't eating so we tried to get him to eat some of his kittie treats from home.. and he ate one! That is really huge for a cat that hasn't eaten voluntarily in over a week.
The vet has scheduled an ultrasound for this afternoon and she said that last night - his bloodwork had improved a little bit. Not normal, but slightly better than it was.
DH and I are soo thrilled. We left the vet crying last night, from happiness. It really gave us a new-found hope that he will be okay. I THINK OUR PRAYERS ARE WORKING! Please continue to think of us and pray and I hope to have more good news soon. Thank you so much girls. You are all amazing. "Get Better Frank.. Mommy and Daddy LOVE you."
I was waiting for an update about Frank, but I was hoping it would be a good one. I'm so sorry for you and your family. I've been and will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
A hopeful story: My boyfriend has a dog, Sandy, who's 9 or 10 (I'm not quite sure). Last year Sandy got really sick... looking back, they think she licked up some antifreeze that someone dumped out onto the street when she got loose one day. She stopped eating and got really really skinny (I've never seen such a sight), and she barely moved anymore. She was in a lot of pain. We all thought she wasn't going to make it... they were about ready to make an appointment for her to be put down to stop her suffering. One day, out of the blue, she got better. She was walking around and eating and eventually got some fat on her bones. Now, a year later, she's still prancing around like a puppy and is a very healthy girl. Moral: never lose hope.
I hope Frank's story turns out like Sandy's. Let us know what happens, and I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Jocey, I am so sorry and will be thinking of you and your kitty. I got all teared up just reading your post. Now I have to compose myself because I am at work. I swear, anyone who abuses animals should have the same horrible things done to them, and see how they like it.
Oh, sweetie.... I know how hard that is. You just have to give him as much love as you can and let him know he is not alone and get him through this. You are very lucky to have found one another - I am sure he knows that and loves you very much. ((hugs to you both)) My kitty just joined me on the couch and she send her best wishes, too.

so glad to hear he is doing better! I've had a similar situation with more than one pet, and sometimes, somehow, they pull through... hang in there! I'll be sending postive thoughts your way!
