I found a True Meaning jacket at Ross - it is grey with velvety trim and gold/bronze sequins below the waist. It's very tasteful and beautiful but I wonder if sequins are out? Or on their way out? I would probably still wear it if I decide to get it, but just wanted to know...
I personally think sequins are always in. Yeah, they had this explosive period recently and technically might be on their way "out" according to the fashion mags, but I think as long as they're done tastefully, they're totally cool still. I have a sequin bag that I love and have had for years and will continue to carry! Besides, I prefer to wear these "trends" when not everyone else is wearing them anyway. The jacket sounds really fab- I think you should go for it!
I wouldn't say they are out. Some think when a trend is embraced by the masses that it is out - which I don't agree with - it's just reaching it's peak, that's all. It will decline in the spring and be completely out next fall, I predict.

I think they are still in. But what I am seeing way too much of is those huge-sequin purses on southern border immigrants at the state fair, sorry if that offends anyone, but where I live, I know a style is played out when those girls are wearing it....because they are also wearing big clunker shoes, too long painted nails, and mid 90's style gold jewelry, and too tight everything!

I don't think sequins will ever be out if they're not overdone and are tasteful. I'm actually seeing a lot of sequin things coming out this holiday season. I think certain sequin covered items are going out...ie, sequined boleros, sequined mesh bags, etc.
Thanks, girls. In fact I usually don't like sequins (think they're overdone) and don't own a single sequined item. Plus, I don't usually follow trends - if something is too trendy I'm turned off... But this jacket I liked. In fact I walked away from it once, about 10 days ago, and bought something else which I never wore because I kept thinking I should have gotten the jacket instead. I think I should get the jacket and keep it for 30 days - after all I can always return it during that period.

Agreed. I think that sequined trimmed cardis and sweaters have staying power, too. As long as they aren't smothered in sequins.
