email/paypal scam emails

Ugh, i almost fell for one this time.  I usually don't even bat an eye at them, but I just got one that looked like I was going to be charged for a $300 watch from eluxurytime or something.  At the bottom, there was a button that said, dispute this charge here.  I was like, WHAT IS THIS, thank god I checked my balance first and everything is in there.  Has anyone gotten a similar email?  They really are getting trickier.

I haven't gotten that one, but you are right, they are getting trickier.  At this point, I basically just delete any email that I get from Paypal or Ebay unless it is related to a specific transaction.

me too- that is why i looked at this one.  it made it look like it was for an individual transaction, just not one that I participated in.

I can usually figure tham out since they always misspell words and use bad grammer!  I never click links from bank/ebay/paypal emails.  I log into the website and check what's going on from there.

Oh... I've gotten this one too and I almost fell for it as well. A couple of months ago, I got one saying my account had been compromised and it linked to what appeared to be a paypal page where they ask for a password, etc. The e-mails are really tricky because they don't spell things wrong and seem to be totally legit- the logos, the links to their web pages, everything looks like paypal!

this just happened last week.  $190 for a rolex!  i got confused because my bf had JUST bought a watch off of ebay and we often share my computer.  but immediately when i saw the "click here to dispute" i was like what???  that one was super tricky.

I like to think I'm pretty good at spotting these but I got one that almost tricked me - it said my account was suspended because a fraud charge had been filed against me - that I had sold a $500 GC to Pepboys or something like that. I had a bunch of listings about to end so I started freaking out but I agree, when it said to click the link I hesitated & realized it was a fraud. I haven't gotten the one you are talking about but that would get my attention as well. Ugh.

I agree with Courtney about the spelling on some of these - one of them I kept getting said I had until "Mai 30" to respond - LOL

Yes!  I receive them all time.  Once I received an email saying "$183 has been sent to timsmotors".  WTF?  I clicked on the link below to "dispute" the charge... I then noticed that it was asking for my ATM Pin number, etc.... shady stuff.  I finally got out of it, then logged onto paypal.com and everything was fine.  Scary!

Me too!!! Same "username" and everything. It said it was my receipt from a transaction with eluxurious. The "sale" was for $328. I freaked out! I didn't know what was going on. Is it a virus or what?
