So far in my communication class I failed two exams.
I failed the first one, because I didn't study as much. Well for my second exam I studied my butt off! I read the chapters and made myself a review. It was about 9 pages long. I studied everyday for about an hour. Even on my way to Austin I studied. Sunday night I studied. Monday I studied. Tuesday morning I studied right before the test. Well, I FAILED! I'm so angry. I knew all the material, but she went a completely different way with the test. There was no vocabulary terms or anything. It was all about examples! I was sooo sure I was going to pass my exam. When I got into my car I started to tear up. I'm so disappointed in myself.
With my two tests my score is about a 67 without the B I made on a major grade. I have to give a public speech by the end of the month. I'm more than sure I'll get at least a B. Because the work to get prepared for the speech is 80% of the major grade.
I know I'm not going to fail the class, but I do not want a C or D. Well we are having a make up exam after the semester is over and that is going to replace one of the lowest test scores. So hopefully, I'll do good on that.
Ugh, I hate it when you know the material for a test and the test does not refer to any of it! I'm sure you will come out fine. You seem like a hard worker .

I'm sorry girl. I had an econ teacher like that and I should have dropped the class but I stuck with it thinking I could figure him out and get that B. Keep working hard but if it doesn't get better drop it and take a different teacher. If you need help with that speech let us know. I took 2 speech classes and might be of help.
I'm trying to think of a topic for my speech. We can talk about anything. The purpose of the speech is to inform. Do you have any ideas? And also any tips that you found useful while giving a speech?

Oh i did mine on the amish lifestyle when i did the inform one. How about something that you see when you go to Mexico (you went there for the hurricane right??). Usually if you pick something random that no one is familar with you can bs stuff pretty well if you forget your speech and no one will know. hence my topic of the amish at LSU.
What are the other types? There are 4 right? I know i did one on sexual harassment and I think i did one on homosexuality (I was taking English 102 and all the speeches matched up with the papers I was writing - type wise so I was lazy and double dipped )
For my informative speech, I gave the history of Valentine's Day. I wanted to do St. Patrick's Day, but couldn't find enough information. It was simple and sweet, and it kept everyone interested.
I think I'm going to give a speech over gun safety or how to prevent or reduce global warming.
That sucks that the test wasn't what you expected! I'm sure you'll do well on the speech.
As for you topics, I think these are good topics, but just make sure that they stay informative and don't veer off into persuasive (as these topics may lend themselves to) since the instructions were to give an informative speech.
When I had a public speaking class, I had to do a few different kinds of speeches. For my informative speech, I talked about Alzheimer's Disease since my grandmother had that.
