I've gone back and forth on this one throughout my life. I remember back in 7th and 8th grade, I'd hit snooze 6 times (yeah, I know, crazy). All through college, I'd get right out of bed immediately. But now, I hit snooze twice. It sure is addicting!
My hubby hits it twice. Exactly twice. Never more never less. And I get up when he leaves (7 or 7:30ish) since I don't work outside the house! But when I did work an 8 am job, i hit it about 6 or 7 times. So sad.

<---- Mitch dog is my alarm clock. He usually wakes me up around 6:15. He just stares at me until I wake up. He doesn't have a snooze button, but I usually tap him on the nose a few times grumbling about how he needs a button. It's our little morning joke.
if you really hit it for an hour, you'd be much better off setting your clock later and hitting it less. i read or saw this on tv somewhere, but it makes sense - those 8 or 9 minutes between "snoozes" aren't doing anything but making you more tired, because you never get back to real sleeping.
i don't hit the snooze, the alarm's on the bf's side . sometimes he hits it several times before i even notice...i generally get up after two or three snoozes. unless he's not there, then i usually get up right away because the bed's not so cozy.

My alarm is set for 7:30. I'm lucky if I'm out of bed by 8. I use my cell phone as an alarm clock. It plays the alarm clock ringer I've chosen every 5 minutes...and I let it play Beethoven's Fifth at least 2 times before I get up...sometimes it's more like 5.

i'm just like Lisa, although i've gotten better (i'm at about 30-45 min of snoozing right now), but i've tried the whole "set it an hour later" thing & i end up being late for work! i just can't help snoozing, even if i set my alarm for 3pm, i'll still snooze it! the best way for me to wake up is if someone calls me (which is rare to get a call at 7am) and asks me lots of questions or gets me involved in a conversation. then i HAVE to wake up! otherwise it's like pulling teeth to get out of my comfy bed!

Lucky dog! I get up at 6 every day and that's really pushing it. I was just telling my husband that I think I'd be infinitely happier if I could sleep until at least 8 every morning.
Oh, and to answer the question -- I don't hit the snooze button, because it does make me more tired, as asf pointed out. If I am desperate for sleep, I hit it once, but that's it. Like I said, my alarm is already late as it is

once and then I wake up and turn it off right away because it is so loud. I sleep near my baby, who somehow can sleep through the alarm even if it's near him, (he must have gotten used to it in utero!!) and I try to get up before he does so I can shower in peace before he wakes up. It's so much more relaxing to take a shower while there is not a baby outside your shower door crying to get in with you.

My alarm clock has a four minute snooze. I have a rule for myself, I can hit it once, but after that I have to set my alarm for an hour later. I actually follow it, so I rarely sleep more than 4 minutes past my alarm. I don't know how/why I follow that, I started in college when I was out partying a ton, so to have made that a habit is an actual miracle!
