wow - unusual amount of Jill's and variations of Kris.  my name is Kristen Jill, but I go by Kris.

I agree! That's so strange. I've never seen that many Jill's, Kristen's, etc. before!

It's my first name too!  Shopgirl82, I have never heard anyone pronounce it AR-in.  Where do people say it that way?  Am I weird for saying air-in?

NO YOU'RE NOT WEIRD. i grew up in the midwest and it was always AIR-RIN. and then when i moved to the east coast, everyone call me arrgh-in. (or something like that). so now that i live in the midwest again, people look at me funny when i pronounce it the east coast way and they always say something really weird like "arn?" and i correct them and the say, "oh, aaaaaaaaairrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrin" and it makes me cringe. ok i think it's just me and i have a complex with it, it probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, but basically, HALLEYBIRD is right, it is an east coast thing, but i guess i just like the east coast way better because i have a bit of an east coast twang now (certain words at least).

this is weird because i would always pictuare halleybird (even though i know that's your dog's name) as halley. some of these names just really throw me for a loop too.

I'm from the east coast and my best friend from childhood's name was Erin and we (and everyone else) pronounced it 'Air-rin.'

i grew up on the east coast (CT) and i've never heard anybody say arrgh-in?   it was always air-in.  every now and then i'd hear eh-rin.  where do people say arrgh-in???

i guess the main difference is the stress on the first syllable and the second syllable being -in instead of -rin. i don't know....maybe it's not arrrgh (i didn't really know how else to explain it). i think i'm thinking too hard into it. i had three girls in my nursing class and they all pronounced it the east coast way and all my friends did too and almost everyone i met, pronounced it that way too. it's definitely pronounced a lot different on the east coast.

guess...  ;)

Halleybird, i would have never guessed that you were and erin !

Erin is one of my favorite names.

as for JacL...  my HS best friend was named after jaclyn smith too.  she spelled her abbreviated name JACI...  and everyone mistakenly called her jay-cee.  it drove her crazy.

nice to meet all of you.

i Gwendolyn! I would tell everyone & feel so chic.

Ha! Thanks, but I rarely feel chic about it. It just seems so old-fashioned to me, but I think it's growing on me as I get older.

If and when we have a big STer get-together, we're definitely going to need nametags that have both our usernames and our real names on them!

Or, for simplicity, maybe we can just go around calling each other "Halleybird" and "NC Shopper."

Are you serious?  You never told me you were named after Jaclyn Smith!

This is my sister's name, only she has an extra middle name so she's Jocelyn Leigh DeTour.  I don't know where the DeTour came from; she's my half-sister and I think it may be her mom's family name but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm Sarah but I'm guessing that's pretty obvious.  It's so weird knowing real names after thinking of people by screen names for so long!

Mine is Tiffany--a cute name for little girls and strippers, but not i'm a little girl or a stripper. so people call me Tiff or "T"-hence the name miss t or "tee-tee" (my brothers call me that).
