i don't really know where to put this, but here it is...
i had a bunch of people (about 10) over for dinner the other night. it was really fun and everyone seemed to have a good time. at the end of the evening, i went into my bathroom and noticed that my medicine cabinet was hanging open, which was sort of weird, but i just shut it. i thought maybe someone had been looking for a bandaid or something.
so the next morning, i go to put on my makeup and my bronze color eyeshadow that i wear every day is gone out of the medicine cabinet. it always goes in this cup with a bunch of other eyeshadows, so i wouldn't have put it anywhere else. i looked all around and couldn't find it. it's not a big deal, and i can replace it for $20, but how weird is that? who would want my half-used bronze eyeshadow? i haven't noticed anything else missing, so it's very weird.
keep an eye on the people who were at your party & see if you notice anyone wearing it. if you do, say "gosh, that looks like the same color i used to wear... then one day it disappeared." (in an innocent tone of course!)
that really sucks, b/c i'm assuming it was ten of your friends. you would think that maybe a good friend might be like "hey i'm using your eyeshadoow, hope you don't mind!" (that's something one of my girlfriends and i would say to eachother)
Yeah, i want to know who are these people? That is INSANE! I'm with indiekitten - if someone said to me - wow, I really like this color I would probably give it to them, but for sure would let them use it. No good excuse for stealing it.

That sucks - I hate thieves. You know what your story reminds me of? I dated this boy once who now is a woman. Apparently while we were together (I didn't know) he used to steal girl stuff from people's houses. Nothing big but maybe a shirt or a pair of pantyhose or an eyeshadow. He only told me this in retrospect when he was explaining his whole transition. (He started living as a girl about 1.5 years after we'd broken up but apparently he'd been girl-happy his whole life only he never told anyone.)
So I'm not saying one of your 10 friends is a guy who wants to be a girl, I'm just saying I've heard of it before.
Here's my other piece of advice: stay away from boys who wear eyeliner. They may say it's all punk and rock & roll and they may look cute with their crazy hair and studded belts and all but don't believe them. Just a tip from me to you.
i just talked to one of my girlfriends, who said that maybe someone dropped it and it broke, so they threw it out. which makes much more sense than anything else. but now i am obsessed with the idea that one of my male friends wants to be a woman.

this is totally cracking me up, by the way. But while it makes sense that someone dropped it, it's still wrong for them not to tell you, "I'm so sorry, but I dropped your eyeshadow and it went everywhere..." but then again, that means they'd have to admit they were rooting around in your medicine cabinet. Hm.
can you send out a group email asking, in a funny way, hey...who borrowed my bronze eyeshadow during dinner the other night?? you may never get an answer, but at least such person won't think it went unnoticed and might keep their sticky fingers to themselves next time they are at your place.

nah, it's not worth it to me to accuse anyone. maybe it broke or got lost or something. probably not, but i'm gonna choose to believe that for now. saves me worrying about more serious/odd circumstances!
