I am trying to get a job in the stationery/paper/invitation/wedding field.  I would be happy working in most aspects of any of these categories, but I am having a hard time finding jobs in these fields.  There aren't many postings for them on career builder, monster, or hot jobs.

Is there anywhere online anyone can suggest looking?  I live in the Chicagoland area.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, my thought is that most of the companies that do these are more small-business, local types that might have better luck finding employees through personal recommendations rather than newspaper advertisements.  Maybe you could try putting together a portfolio with examples of your work along with your resume and going around to local  stationery/invitation/paper companies to see if they are in need of help?

Run a check on your local chamber of commerce website for local businesses (it's generally a .org site and you can find them via google by typing in 'Anytown Chamber of Commerce' or whatever), then go directly to those businesses websites and apply to them (even if they don't have a job posted).  I'm in the process of doing this with every ad agency in the Lehigh Valley area.  I've had the best luck going straight to the businesses themselves.  It shows that you made an effort to find these places.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

also, if you have a place in your area that does a LOT of weddings, I'd call the coordinator there and ask for the list of businesses she recommends to people...you may get some leads that way.

Does your alma mater (sp?) have a job search program?
