Most of my clothes are dark, and worn with this I just look goth. I'm also 5'4 and am worried it will overpower me...how do I lighten it up? Maybe this?
I would alter the skirt. Sew some ivory trim to the inside of the hem so it peaks out. and get some antique crochet lace thingies (like doyles but not round I guess) and applique them one the skirt. I edited the image in paint, but it's really hard to draw crocheted things in paint.
I think that since you have it already, you can make it work. I saw a girl wearing a navy hooded sweatershirt, a brown down vest, and this style skirt in olive green with trainers and it was surprisingly really cute. I couldn't stop staring at her.
I think you could wear graphic tees and layer thermals underneath and wear trainers.
I agree lilykind b/c when it's warm it's easier to just throw on a tee and flats but in the cold it's a bit harder - I saw a girl wearing a long sweater with a big belt over it. I'm just not that into the peasant look....
And kisa yes it's a very big chunk of black so add-ons would be great...too bad I can't sew. I want to shorten it but it's a lot of lace......
Since you can't sew you might be able to create a similar effect with well placed bleach splatter spots. I know some people really hate them, but I like them if it's simple enough. Just another idea!
