What do you want for Christmas?
Permalink Closed

Ok, I know this is crazy early, but we exchange Christmas presents with my side of the family on Thanksgiving!  So, my SIL has requested a list, and I am stumped.  And I never have a problem finding things I want!  I thought if you shared what you want, it could inspire me

i've alreday decided what i want.  i told someone the other day and they looked at me like i had three heads.  so i'm glad i'm not alone.

i want a new laptop computer, this cute snowboarding jacket, and if i am very extremely lucky, this really beautiful red wool coat at a little designer/tailor shop near my house.  it's beautiful, but $450.  the thing i like most about it, though, is that it's very unique and classic--i could wear it forever and not run into anyone else wearing the same one.

I've already been working on a spread sheet that lists what I want, where to get it, price, a picture, and any additional comments

So far, all I really want is a digital camera.  My parents are buying that for the BF and I.  My BF keeps asking what I want and I have no idea what to ask for   Any suggestions?!

I'm asking FH to get me a Bare Escentuals makeup kit. I've been wanting one for so long but I never want to spend the money on it. Other than that I haven't really given it much thought. This is the first Christmas that we're living together so it's going to be weird not to see a ton of presents under the tree like we did at our respective parents' houses.

OHHH..  :(  Have you tried the MAC brushes? At my MAC store, the SA's will tell you their brushes stink. The bristles tend to fall out of every single one.

I just want to make you don't ask for something you might regret!

I'm glad you asked this question, because I already have Christmas on the brain as well! I've already made my budget for purchases! I don't have a full list of the things I want yet, but some things that I'm thinking about telling people are:

-Sephora goodies. A bottle of my fave perfume, more Stila eyeshadow pans to fill the new empty palette I got, lip glosses, this Tocca candle I've wanted forever, I could go on and on.....

-A couple of cashmere sweaters - ie, I've heard good things about JCrew cashmere and almost everyone has access to that store. Perfect gifts for the cold winter months.

-DVDs

-Shoes

-Winter gloves

-I want a new winter coat, but haven't found the perfect one yet. The sleeves are always too short or the shoulders are constructed strangely. Maybe I have a strange body or something. :(

-I really want a pair of skis! Probably the best thing is to get a GC to a ski shop, then I can have the SAs fit me with the perfect pair.

MAC brushes seriously suck.  The bristles are constantly falling out of every brush I have from there.  Don't buy them!

It will probably be something for my house since I don't have anything I really want or need for myself.

I'm no help, because I don't really want anything. My hubby doesn't do holiday gifts for me - which is fine with me. The year we bought the house, I told him not to buy me anything for the holidays, because the house was present enough. And I've told him not to worry about it since (going on three years now).

He goes all out for my birthday and usually does something pretty special for our anniversary, but I really feel like I get Christmas all year round because he doesn't say much about my shopping. Very rarely will he say, "Okay honey, time to put the brakes on" when finances get a little tight or I've really been going to town. But he supports us with his income while I grow my business, and I shop pretty much when and how I please (within reason), and that's enough gift for me.

  • Digi. cam., since I wasn't able to get it this month (other things came up).
  • My closet expanded
  • More huggable hangers from HSN (to make MORE ROOM for FUTURE clothes!) LOL

That's all - I'm easy.

oh i have my list already!

from the BF:  a LV Speedy 25.  We already went and checked it out at the LV store but he INSISTS on purchasing the strap that is an additional $180 b/c he thinks I'll have issues with the bag down the road b/c you can't sling it over your shoulder... w/e weird BF who thinks he knows my bags better than me...

from the parents:  ??? this one i don't know yet- probably new travel luggage pieces that i can put my make-up and toiletry stuff in...  or a big leather carryall when my roll bag isn't quite enough

from the siblings: i want easy stuff... since i travel for work- i want little sizes of my favorite soaps, etc.  and a starbucks GC from everyone to feed my expensive caffeine habit!

i suck at this- i always figure out what i want and buy it myself.  my parents are too lazy to buy what i can buy myself anyway, or look for themselves.  I don't really have a big family either.  so i haven't really opened a present (some decoy presents like socks..) since i was 15 =(  I just get lots of checks and cash.  its useful and i get what i want in the end, but its sometimes sad when i read about people getting all this cool stuff for their bdays and christmas that they either picked out or were surprised with.

my parents are the EXACT same.  i've had a credit card since i was 16 just because i would come home from shopping and i would tell my mom about some pants that i wanted and she decided that if i had a credit card that she wouldn't have to go right away and miss them selling out of them.  (she wasn't being lazy or mean, she worked nights and so her daytime was for sleeping, not driving me to the Gap for a pair of $40 pants).

needless to say, my parents just figure that we would rather have cash and get what we really want.  i do get socks and stuff to open, but since i've lived away from home for five years, they always say that gcs, cash, and checks are easier to transport and what we really want.  i'm not complaining, and it is actually true, but i do get sad sometimes that my friends parents can pick out amazing jewelry that my friends actually like.

I haven't started thinking about what to ask my parents for specifically but I always have my amazon wish list updated year round for my friends to check.  I mainly keep dvds or cds on it.  Some sephora stuff.  With christmas usually i just walk around the mall with my mom and pick out clothes and she later goes and buys them for me.  Its much easier especially since I grew up opening presents she knows I"ll be disappointed if I don't have anything to open.
