Has anyone designed their own closets?
Permalink Closed

One of the next steps in making our apartment ours isfixing our closet situation. Gary has an obscene amount of clothing and I have many purses and shoes. Right now we are sharing one large close. However, we have decided to create another closet on the opposite wall so we can have individual closet space.

I would like to use california closets. Has anyone used them before? Are there any other companies we can use? Pleasel let me know of your experiences. Thanks!

ETS: Below is an example of what we want to make, 2 reach-in closets.

I did it to all of our closets when we moved in to this house.  Plus we made a room that has sloping ceilings into a walk-in closet room!  There are soooooo many options, so you should be able to get just what you want.

I really would like to have a fancy set up in my new closet.  Right now I just have a few closetmaid pieces in maple color.   I need to figure out something quick.   In our new master bedroom it has a walk-in closet and another room used for whatever.  We have decided to make the other room a closet as well, so we each get our own space!  So I just have 4 walls for now and will have to plan out everything.  Ikea has closet stuff, so I may look into that as well.

i just wrote a LONG response only to delete it accidentaly. AAARRRGGG!

We just had our closets re-done. i LIVE for them! i'll post pictures and i ONLY reccomend Transform.

CA Closets was too expensive and not at all creative. I would be happy to talk to you about Transform. I really should be on their commercial!

I interviewed Transform, CA Closets and one other weirdo lady that had not one good idea.

I'll write more ASAP and post those pictures.

We only have reach-ins (coat, mine and my husbands/linen closet) so I can relate.

our walk-in closet off our bedroom pretty large so i knew it would end up costing big-money to have it done by california closets or other company so i planned the entire space on my own with graph paper, a pencil and a big eraser. i purchased the modular pieces from a store called organized living (last i heard they are no longer in business but i'm sure there are others out there that sell similar products). i assembled all the individual pieces — i'm a big DIY person and a bit of a control freak so i thought it was a fun project. then my husband installed them by anchoring them to eachother and into the wall. it probably ended up costing about a quarter of the price of california closets. with the money i saved i spurged on wooden hangers.
