waterspots on shoes

I am not sure if this is the board to post this question, but I need help.  I recently got a pair of some B Markowsky "Sasha" pumps in the pink color for my birthday.  I had wanted them for so long and thought they had sold out.  Well, they popped back up in my size at a very good price so I snatched them up.  They are leather and without thinking, I walked through wet grass yesterday and got them waterspotted.  I am usually so careful with my shoes, so I don't know what possessed me to do that.   I am so distressed. no  I took them to my local shoe repair shop this morning before work and the guy who owns it told me that there is really nothing that can be done to get them out.  He said he would try to clean them, but that was all he could promise.  He told me I should have sprayed them with some  water repellent.  Well, instructions didn't come with these shoes saying that is what I should do!!! Can you tell I am a little aggravated--with myself? hmm  This guy is a miracle worker when it comes to shoes, so if anybody can fix them, he can.  Have any of you ever done this, and if so, were you able to get the spots out?  I know it is silly to be so distressed over something this small in the big scheme of things, but I am.  Here are the shoes:

They are beautiful, I can understand being distressed. Sure, it is small in the grand scheme of things, but it is the little things that make us happy, so seeing a pair of shoes you lusted after for so long at the end out your leg probably makes you smile - the waterspots, not so much!

Hopefully the shoe guy can fix them up for you. Otherwise I usually trash them. But, if they aren't salvageable, and you would otherwise get rid of them, could you try to 'waterspot' the whole shoe? At least then it would all be one tone and wouldn't have marks... Just something to think about as a back up plan. Let's hope it doesn't come to that though!

I spray every shoe and bag I own with water repellent before it ever goes outside with me. I'm fanatical about it, because I have lost shoes to alcohol spillage and it's the same problem. "A permanent stain" is what I was told.

I'm sorry you didn't do that...I learned the hard way just as you have. Hopefully they can be fixed!

So sorry! I know how disappointing it can be to have something that you really wanted damaged. Hope the shoe guy can fix them for you.

My suggestion for the future (and once you get these shoes back) is to spray anything leather or suede (bags, shoes, coats) with water repellent made for leather. I usually buy the version sold at Target (it's in the shoe department in my store.) I don't recommend the Scotch Guard spray made for work boots. It can ruin delicate leather. Get the one that says it's for delicate leather goods (suede also has a separate kind of spray.) I spray all my leather goods at least once a year, usually seasonally (I'll be doing all my boots & Fall bag in September.) Do it in a ventilated area and let them dry over night.

Thanks. I am going to get me some spray. My shoe guy sells it, but he was just out of it today. If he can't fix the shoes, I ordered another pair just in case. They were still on sale and still in my size.
