This may be asking a lot of you, my dear stylethearders...BUT, I am getting a closet makeover for Christmas if I'm a good girl and I'd like ideas. Please post pics of your beautiful closets. I don't care if it's messy!
I wouldn't call it "beautiful." Someday I want some cool California-Closet stuff going on in there. But I do love the size and the setup:
This is sort of the whole view of my closet, taken from the back. Clothes and purses are on the left, shoes & belts on the right:
a view from the closet door. My clothes are on the right, my husband got the little short wall in the back. Ignore the pile of clothes on the floor... they're his.
my shoe-shelves: ( them)
below the shelves -- belts/scarves & plastic drawers (hate them...I am getting rid of themas soon as I get a dresser!)

Thank you ladies! I love organization so much. I really do. I love to look at hangers and shelves....just a tad OCD about it! HB-I love the shoe wall, that's what I want. Missmee-love the island in the middle!
i'm in love with your closets ladies! my closet now is small and pathetic, but if i had a walk in, you better believe that it would be f*cking fabulous!
And missmee, I have to say, if you husband doesn't want you shopping as much, he shouldn't have moved you into a house with a closet like that!!!!!!
That room wasn't a closet when we moved in. It was an office/sitting room off of our master bedroom. It was actually my hubby's idea to make it into a closet because the room was otherwise useless! So it's his fault that I HAVE to shop so much!!!

I want to do this when we buy a house, but I always wonder, do you keep the closets that were already in your Master Bed, or do you knock them out for a bigger room?

We originally have (and still have) 3 closets in the bedroom, not including our big "room" one. Our intention was to turn one of them into a laundry room so that we'd have the washer/dryer upstairs. That didn't pan out, so we now plan to use that space as a built-in cabinet of some sort. It's the only one facing into our bedroom, so we could have it customized to match our bedroom furniture. The other 2 original closets are located in a hallway leading from our bedroom, past our bathroom, to our "room" closet. The smaller one I turned into my shoe and jewelry closet. The other is a deep closet w/ a slanted ceiling, so we use it to hold all of our luggage and such.
So, to answer your question, BQ, I guess it would depend on your room's layout. You might could use the closet space to expand your bathroom or to make a sitting area, for example.
I'll make you a deal...you can have mine. I am moving in with MissMee. There are no words for that closet.
Hey, you know what it's like to fight over closet space. There's no WAY I could compete for space w/ you! Well, unless you're going to let me borrow some of your fabulous clothes, then we have a deal! Husband, schmusband!

That's great! I always told the bf (last year when we were planning on buying a house this year) that when we bought a house it would have to have one bedroom more than we really wanted b/c one of those rooms would be my closet. I couldn't believe that he actually said that would be okay. But, *sigh* we aren't buying a house together anytime soon, so I guess I won't get my big closet, either.
well i used to use the soon-to-be baby's room as my unofficial second closet...but i switched "closets" with my husband (and moved everything out of the spare bedroom). i gave him the actual closet (which was small!), and i turned an alcove in our room into my closet. i still haven't decided how i want to store my purses. the garment racks were a cheap solution to an actual closet redo. next year we are planning to put up a wall between our bedroom and the closet, but for now, i am putting curtains up to separate it. (i don't want to do anything permanent until i decide exactly how i want it)
the lilly pulitzer colors were there when we moved in and i've been too lazy to paint the room/remove the hideous carpet.
the clothes above the shoes are all dresses. i think i need to do something about that.
I wanted to show you guys this pic -- I saw it in a model home and took a photo with my camera phone...I thought it was such a cute idea for a closet! Someday I am going to paint this above my closet door.

Me too! I have already picked out the shoes on either end of the top row of the shoe rack. I also like what appears to be a silver pair of platform sandals, and several of the dresses. Wheeww, I am all shopped out now!! great collection, erin!!
