I have one thing left to buy for Fall...a pair of brown knee high boots. I need to be able to wear them to work and on the weekends. I am looking for a pretty classic style that will be comfortable. I am hoping these boots will last at least 5-7 years.
I bought these today at Bebe for $219. They fit over my calves and they look pretty hot on. Materialwise, they are relatively good quality. They have a leather shaft (a bit on the harder side, but could soften with time) and leather soles (these are nice and soft). However, I noticed that the boot is glued on to the sole and that the zipper is pretty cheap. Those two issues highlight the reasons why I generally don't like Bebe. I think most of Bebe's items are characterized by shoddy construction and low quality materials considering the price point. I do adore the style though...and the boots are very comfy.
(this color is Brown)
I also ordered these J. Crew Madyson knee high boots online in the extended calf version (on sale for $195. I have never seen this particular pair in person, but I have been consistently satisfied with the construction of J. Crew boots in the past. What I fear with this pair is that they're very basic. However, these would be very similar to my black Kenneth Cole boots, which I have worn many times and love to death. Would it be too boring to own what would essentially be two pairs of the same boots and wear them throughout the winter? I will receive this pair in the mail sometime next week.
I like the Bebe boots, but if you are concerned about the quality, then take them back. You are having doubts pretty early in your boot "relationship" so I wouldn't chance it and just keep looking.
I like the J Crew ones better. They look dressy like for work but yet you can look casual in them for the weekends. I cant tell the difference from the Raisin color and the Chestnut color though. Are they both brown?

Hehehe...I just talked to a nice lady at J. Crew customer service and she told me that Raisin is more of a reddish brown and Chestnut is straight up chocolate brown (like, well, a chestnut)
Keep the J.crew boots. If you want to wear them for many years, that style is much less apt to go "out" of style. And they are probably made a lot better. I also think they are more versatile--will go with many different kinds of outfits. Wow, I really really like the J.crew ones, I wish I could buy them for myself!

I agree - while I really really like the Bebe ones, I think the J. Crew ones will last you much longer and won't go out of style because they are a classic style. I don't think you'll get 5-7 years out of anything from Bebe.
I have last year's version of the J.Crew boot and I LOVE them. They are honestly one of my favorite items in my closet. I think the leather is super high quality for the price. Also, I wear mine to walk to work (2 miles each way) and they are totally comfortable.
