And it all comes crashing down
Permalink Closed

Well, girls that's the way it feels anyway.  My brain knows that is totally melodramatic, but I am just at my wits end right now.  I don't know where else to go , so I came here.

Technically it's about the wedding.  We've been having huge problems with the golf club we booked for our wedding - they will not call or email us back, everything keeps getting more expensive, their contract doesn't protect us at all, and nothing we agree upon ends up in our file.  There is another girl getting married there this month I found on the Knot, and she's had an even worse time of it.  I am getting out before it's too freaking late .

Now, I have to start all over again, this time from 1,300 miles away.  Looking for places, trying to get all the info over the phone, the whole shebang.  The whole reason we got it taken care of super early (last February) was to avoid this whole mess!  Now I'm going to have to fly out to look at some more possible locations later this month, and then again in January to do a tasting.

I've been calling around like a madwoman all day, trying to find other places open on our date and contacting our vendors to check their availability.  Why is it that you end up having to make the same freaking decisions over and over again?  I've found a couple places with 7/23 open (our original day was supposed to be 7/22) and all our vendors have returned my call to say that they are still open for 7/23!  Thank all that is holy for that one!

Anyway, will someone just slap some sense into me?  Pretty please ?  I am just pissed that I even have to deal with this and sad and vulnerable because of it.  Crap.

That really sucks!  How do they stay in business???

I bet you'll end up w/an even better place, and it will all work out for the best in the end, but what a pain!

Aww, LMonet, that SUCKS!!!  What a headache!  I guess the good thing is that you have some time on your side.  I think you're doing the right thing though by getting out now.  They sound like they have a history of bad service, so as much as it's a pain in the ass right now, you'll probably be happy you changed locations later.

That still sucks that you have to go through all of this.

i'm sorry, LMonet.  i know what a pain wedding planning can be, even when you are trying to make it as simple as possible...it always ends up getting complicated.  i'm glad you are pulling out now while you still can though.  did you lose any money on it?  I think you still have plenty of time to plan something just as nice (or better) than what you originally had in mind.  Don't worry!  Things will come together better than you think.

Oh honey - Things will work out, you still have plenty of time.  It is best that you are getting away from these idiots at the golf club now.  You'll find something just as nice and won't have to deal w/ the stress of being unsure if they are going to screw up.  {{{hugs}}}

BTW, are you getting married in Spokane?

Oh Sweetie - what a mess. PLanning a wedding ONCE is hard - forget twice, which is essentially what you are doing, so I can understand your frustration.  Like JJ said - isn't it a relief that you found out what a mess they are BEFORE They ruined your wedding?!

In the end you are going to find an amazing place..have an amazing wedding and all of this will be nothing but an old memory. Try not to let it take away from the fun of it.

Thanks girls .  You made me feel better.

We've only put $1,000 down so far, and I don't think we signed anything acknowledging that it was non-refundable, so we might be able to get it back.  Even if we lose it, I think we're resigned to that.  We'll still come out a couple thousand ahead in the long run, even with having to pay for an extra plane trip for me.  Better $1,000 lost than our wedding day ruined!  And after the way they've treated us, I'll be damned if they get anymore of our hard earned money !

We're getting married in Portland, Luckylily .

Bleh to the whole situation - I hope you all are right that it was meant to be that we didn't have our wedding at this retched place, and that it will all turn out for the better .
