on the topic of Lucky: does anyone else notice that they egregiously over-use the same models? They have this one woman who is in there EVERY SINGLE FRIGGING MONTH and since I didn't like her to begin with it makes me want to scream. This is her with the top of her head cut off but you will probably recognize her because SHE IS THERE EVERY MONTH! Is she Kim France's sister or something? I don't get it! I think it particularly drives me insane because while she's pretty in a generic kind of way, there's nothing about her that seems to merit their obsession with her! If they're deliberately trying to find more "relatable" models who are more normal pretty women than flat-out beauties, OK, fine... but why does it have to be the SAME woman every time?

OK, rant ended. Homework now.

I hate when they use themselves as models. too much ego in that magazine for my tastes.

yeah I know what you mean--I can't stand the editors' picks section where they have the editors modeling things; and I wanted to gag over the "this is how we dress" story they did a while back too. But I do like the dress-for-your-body-type ones, because they're more an example of how to dress for your own figure than they are a "ooh look at us aren't we fabulous" moment.

And, while I'm complaining about Lucky, why the hell don't they include a letters to the editor section? It has always bothered me that they consider themselves above acknowledging their readers' opinions!

I agree on all points. But I think SOME of the models are really pretty.

On another note, I really like the new issue! I used like half of the yes stickers, and most of what I yes'ed was affordable.

ok, are we officially hijacking this thread w/Lucky complaints? If so, I have to say -- and maybe I am alone here -- that the regional shopping guide thing is sort of annoying. First of all, I feel like they do the same cities over and over. Second, it's like 10 pages long. Third, it's only helpful if you plan on visiting that exact city in the near future (and have lots of time to shop). Fourth, I don't think it's that helpful even if you live there -- when they did the Phoenix one awhile back, there was nothing in there that everyone didn't already know. It feels like an excuse for the writer to go on vacation.

Anyway, rant over.

I agree on the whole editors as models thing. But I think maybe in their eyes it's just kind of a fun thing to do to get glammed up as a posher version of themselves for one day at a photo shoot so I won't hate on them too much. At least they don't use themselves every month...well except for the girls that do the front pages with their picks. This issue as a whole was OK. I didn't feel like a lot of the ideas were novel, and a lot of the best stuff was not anything I could afford. But it was enjoyable enough and I did like some of the stuff.

I feel like Sophia Bush is a total Rachel Bilson wannabe...similar type but not appealing in the least. But then I've gone to school (she was supposed to be a senior at USC, but she left when One Tree Hill started) with some of her former sorority sisters and they left a bad taste in my mouth, so I am terribly biased.

Slightly OT, but it bad that I want to be one of those girls that they ask to do the "one piece, four ways" thing just so I can be in the mag? How do those girls get in, because I've wanted to do this since I was 15.
