I'm looking for a new winter coat. I'm all set as far as a tailored coat, but I need a new casual, everyday one... for when I'm at school and runnng errands. I have The Warmest Jacket from the Gap last year (it's down-filled and pink), but it's not gonna do the trick this year. I don't want a puffy coat this year. I want something short (at or above the butt) because I find that longer coats make my legs look super short when I'm not wearing heels. I really like this Abercrombie coat, but I don't want to look like all the teeny-boppers around here.

I like the shape and I like that it has a hood. I like that it's not a nylon down-filled coat, but will still keep me nice and toasty (when I wear my gloves and scarf, of course ) Supposedly, the whole body is lined in faux fur, and a friend of mine who works at A&F said the sleeves are too (but I don't really believe that). It seems ideal, except that, like I said, I'll look like a teeny-bopper... people already think I'm 16 (I'm 20), and I don't want to add to the confusion .

Can anyone help me find something? To recap... I want a shorter length, casual, canvas or wool, hooded coat that will keep me super warm (I live in New England and winters here are killer). Color isn't an issue (neutrals are preferred)... but no black. The cheaper the better; I don't want to spend more than $200. Does such a monster exist??? I'm desperate, so any suggestions are appreciated

Hmm.....I'll share a little story of mine that may be of help.....

Ever since I saw this particular olive green jacket from Abercrombie (i am wearing it in my first threadstyle which I posted a earlier this week), I fell in love with it. I resisted buying it though for the same reason as you -- fear of looking like a teeny bopper! (I'm 23 but look 18 or so)....

So, I searched everywhere for 2 months to find a similar one w/ the same qualities I loved. Long story short, I just couldn't find one that compared! Finally I just gave in and bought it, and I am so glad I did because I love it. I say to myself, who cares if teeny boppers are wearing this jacket? I love it, it meets my needs, and that's all that matters!

Moral of my silly little story -- if you love it, buy it! No one will judge you for it (and if they do, they'll just be jealous because of how fantastic you look!)

PS. It's a nice coat and I like it too!
