Why do mags advertise an item if it isn't for sale? For example, I have been wanting these Charles Davids (Exchange by CD) I saw in Marie Claire a few months ago and finally decided to locate and buy them. The price was right ($95 according to mag) so I called their Bev Hills store and was told that they don't even make that shoe in that color; it was just for the photo shoot! BTW, I couldn't locate a pic, but I can describe them vividly -- royal blue suede (they looked velvet in pic), round-toed with silver t-strap/detailing with a silver heel. They were in the "princess" feature/Alice in Wonderland. Grrr, I'm just venting because they were on my fall list and now I can't have them. I'm in a blue phase these days so they were right up my alley.
Thanks for listening.

Awwww...that really sucks! I've never called a store where I saw something that I wanted to buy from a magazine....oh wait, I have, and the store thought I was crazy, so I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! LOL

I think merchants send magazine editors their merchandise way in advance of a season, since the upcoming issue of a magazine is often done 4-5 months in advance. That being said, the merchants might decide in the meantime not to mass produce those products after all, and maybe the magazine does not have time to track this information down.
It does suck though, all these editors getting access to these exclusive goodies. I'm jealous!
